Last Push for Immigration
We're slated to leave at the end of November, and for everything we've managed to save, it's all going to travel expenses. We need help putting a down payment on somewhere to stay!
$455 / $3000
Kofi • Commissions • $ruckusthekid
I'm more than happy to work for it, and any help is appreciated. We're applying for asylum (where might be changing, Portugal resources are getting really slim), & our goal is to help other trans kids out of the country once we've figured out the process.
Thank you so so much for the support we've already received, and I'm honestly really excited to show y'all how it all goes down.
See ya soon!
More information about us, if you want it:
As a trans couple, my husband and I are really feeling the pressure to get out of the United States. We thought we could skim by where we are until we could leave, but he's been goaded by local police as they humiliated and condescended him in a back room for being trans, and I had my ID confiscated for saying male, and upon trying to get it reissued as female, I was kept after hours in the state trooper's office and surrounded by all residing cops left in the station as it was processed. We don't feel safe, if you can believe it.
We've flown by the seat of our pants a lot. We've been kicked out, homeless, manipulated and hurt by a lot of fucking people over the last five years, and we've always managed to make it work. I assume the same can be said for this; even if we don't get the money we need before we leave, we'll figure something out when we get there.
It's not ideal, having to do things like this, but we're in the middle of nowhere, in a food desert, and I have a highly restrictive diet that's really difficult to afford as it is. We've been trying to save for over a year now and only scraped up $2k with help. It's on par, if not over $1k each for us to fly, with our baggage & cats.
I'm doing my fuckin best and I'm willing to work for anything we make here, I'm just floundering to support us and get this together too with how absolutely shithole rancid the economy is.
No one owes us anything, there's no pressure to donate or commission me, but it would be an enormous pressure off of us to get this put together before we leave. Please.

Bucky Barnes x fem!exwife reader
*follows the original thunderbolts plot line and thunderbolts!Bucky
Warnings: minor spoilers, mild swearing, angst?
Word count: 4.7k+
summary: Congressman Barnes’ marriage did not end for the better only for his paths to cross again with his ‘wife’ in the most unpleasant fashion where he last expected her to be
an: you guys went crazy over this so I had to finish this in two days we are sooooooo back
—
As red guardian’s fancy, gaudy and however bulletproof-ish limousine made a flip at Bucky’s detonator. The relieved group of delinquents inside were overcome with shock, bracing themselves for the fall, gripping handles tightly as the surprisingly present airbags opened in their faces. Ghost was the first one out evidently being more equipped to exit in the blink of an eye. Others fell with a thud a collective ache in everyone’s joints, groaning trying to find their way out ever so impatiently. Ghost broke the door open as Bucky was getting closer. In the front seat red guardian needed most strength to be extracted out of the vehicle.
By then Bucky had reached with a task at hand, Ava and Yelena focused more on trying to get red guardian out, “Not cool man” Alexei said in his heavy accent to the long haired who they’d assumed was here to help them.
With a swift tug with his metal arm Bucky pulled the backseat door right off its hinges, before he could lean John was already on his way out, the person following John out made his eyes widen. “You?!” He exclaimed putting his hands on her shoulders instinctively but she brushed him off and got out herself. “Have you lost your mind?! Don’t tell me you were in the goddamn vault with these-“
Standing up on her feet instantly, trying to regain balance given her vision was a bit dizzy after going through a flipping car. “You lunatic-“ she lunged at him but she was still evidently dizzy and had weak steps, he easily dodged. “You could have gotten us all killed!”
“Stop, stop!” Bucky’s hands were surprisingly of a gentle grip on her shoulders yet again, wanting her to find her footing again. “Are you alright?” He asked scanning for major injuries, if he had known she was in the car he would approached in a way less reckless way.
“Get off of me-!” Taken aback by his might to just downplay the weight of the situation, falling into old habits like they were getting reunited or something.
“Husband mode eh?” Alexei commented with a snicker, Bucky took it well, someone else didn’t.
“He’s not my husband!” She barked almost instantly and pushed Bucky even further, even after he’d let go off her shoulders.
Another truck circled around them, “With me” Bucky told them expecting them to follow without much resistance was really some heavy wishful thinking.
The red guardian was already walking, a lot of faith in the metal armed man when Yelana stoped him by his arm, “And why should we just follow you after you crashed us?”
“Bucky you do realise you could get years for attempted murder on captain America-“ Jon was stopped mid sentence by the others taking an offence at him calling himself captain America and less bothered by the attempted murder.
“You were all being chased by trucks with machine guns and I’m sure more are on the way. This is the middle of nowhere if you have better options than getting in the truck you’re all very welcome to do so” Bucky said crossing his arms, the truck driver probably one of bucky’s favour agents got on his bike and left the truck for him.
Red guardian was the first to pitch in to agree with him, Yelena and Ava had their suspicions. “It’s the worse of two I suppose” Ava said with a sigh.
“It’s not like you have anything on us and we outnumber you so there’s that.” Yelana started walking as the rest followed, no obvious threat so far.
“If it’s our help you need Bucky you know you can just ask.” Walker said with his ever high confidence in himself, it never fails to be less staggering.
“Are you people actually considering this?!” Y/n was the only one who stayed put in her place not trusting everyone’s and especially bucky’s instincts to follow him into god knows where, “We can’t trust this man-“
“‘This man’ honey? Really?” Bucky quoted her absolute disregard for their history like he was some stranger she detested so much. He wasn’t walking back to the truck either, well aware of stubborn she was he was ready to let this play out for a while and eventually take matters, her, quite literally into his own hands.
“Don’t call me that!” The disgust on her face was as though he had committed at atrocity, the others had already started accommodating themselves in the truck for her to get her point across.
“You know all this anger really isn’t good for your health.” He told her, leaning a bit forward and she stiffened.
“You know what would be good for you? Letting me be” she told him uncrossing her arms and the last of her ‘loser’fest team were already walking into the truck.
“Why would you get yourself into this mess? You know you are better than this and please don’t tell me you were in the vault” it felt so natural to fall back into old habits for Bucky. The soft scolding with an undertone of concern and frustration. He didn’t miss this feeling of dread that he was yet again so close to losing her but he was grasping at straws into conversations with her, after the divorce she had blocked his number, locked their old apartment just recently because he kept finding reasons to visit her over and over. Even stopped all streaming subscriptions he couldn’t even work through without her so if this was the conversation he could make he’d take what he can get.
“You are the last person I’m answerable to.” She clarified him losing his keeping tabs privileges on her as their marriage fell. It was the least pleasant feeling to be harsh against anyone, even him, despite of what he did. But if it she acted even a bit less colder it would give him hope to no end. So she kept it up and walked across him, he stayed unmoving from her way and her shoulder brushed his somewhat rudely she didn’t even account it. He felt good about her casually striding against him as if his touch didn’t repel her anymore. Idiot.
Before she could climb into the back of the truck with the rest of them he stopped her getting inside himself first and swiftly started cuffing everyone, “hey what the hell” Yelena said struggling against him but those high tech binds were so swift she couldn’t retaliate in enough time.
“Come on Bucky you know me is this really necessary?” John scoffed trying to break free of the cuffs but or was no use.
“She was right” Ava said nodding at the woman standing outside the truck unfazed Bucky would pull this, trying to make the run for it into ghost mode but the cuffs kept her hands in place so she couldn’t even move forward in her projecting form.
“You, in the front” Bucky said looking back at her and she obviously defied it.
“Why?” She scoffed not wanting to walk into his plan after he literally cuffed all her acquaintances. “We are not your little evidential gifts against Valentina”
“She did try to kill you all” Red guardian chimed in as Yelena nodded about the fact.
“It doesn’t align with our principles if he is the one who turns us in, we could do it ourselves” the fact that ‘Congressman Barnes’ would get all credit for brining Valentina’s assets in after they risked their lives to get out really didn’t sit right with her.
“Why would we turn ourselves in at all?” Ava questioned not really into the idea of getting under oath whatsoever.
“Exactly. It is up to us what we decide not him” So glad the others saw her point at least now, despite of walking into getting themselves tied up.
“It really isn’t” he shrugged and pointed to another one of automobiles from vault’s base at a far distance. “Say no and I’d leave you all here to fend for yourself.” No one but her would be ready to call his bluff. He knew that she knew that too well that he would rather fight off nearly everyone in that truck than put her in harm’s way but he had to convince the others somehow and it seemed to work well enough as he got out of the back container to get into the driver’s seat.
“Why doesn’t she get tied up?” John questioned as she had to walk to the passenger seat on Bucky’s uncalled for demand.
“She is the missus!” Red guardian said stating the obvious and a shrug, already under the cool influence of Bucky to question it.
“They’re divorced” John pointed out
“Doesn’t seem like it was mutual” Yelena commented gaining a snicker from Alexei.
-
In the front, looking out the window as Bucky pushed it on the accelerator, “Where are we going?”
“New York” he answered her without much debate or resistance, if he were to recall there was never a time he could lie to her. He would never want to.
She didn’t have much questions to ask because she didn’t want to give answers to the ones he would ask back, not without consulting the rest anyways. Besides she would rather turn herself in than to afford another conversation with him. With a heavy sigh she looked out the window crossing her arms.
He looked in her direction, eyes softening despite the gravity of the situation they were in. The exhaust on her face was evident, “There are some pain killers in the cabinet.” He told her.
No response for her equated to her disinterest in taking them, he knew she hated any sort of antibiotics or meds just to push through her pain but it was worth the shot, as stubborn as she was he hates her open wounds. He opened the cabinet and got out the patching kit, whilst his other hand was still on the steering wheel. He opened the pack between his teeth and applied antiseptic on the patches, without asking he put it on her forehead where she’s seemed to have taken a bad hit. “Ow” she grumbled in pain but needless to say it was a required patchwork for the bleeding. “I’ve got it” she said taking it from his hand on her forehead into her own.
Her palms against his arm…he hadn’t felt it in so long. His hand was much larger in her comparison he’d always noted that. Being reminded of that again made him want to intertwine his fingers in hers and hope she could undo every moment he had to be away from her.
Eventually he took his hand away and put it on the driving clutch, even though it wasn’t a manual drive, he just couldn’t contain the life coursing through him after her hands touched him against. It’s these minuscule of interactions with her that gave him so much purpose. At first when he saw her in the flipped car he felt awful she was here in the first place but now he has her right next to him on the road to New York and he feels bad for wishing the miles are longer than they usually are.
“Hey this is not a manual drive” she was quick to pick that up when he didn’t take his hand off the clutch for a while being lost in thought, unrecovered from her touch.
“Oh” he nodded taking his hand off and back to the steering, “I know” he had to shift the conversation “You practised on our old manual when you were renewing your license right?”
“Your old manual was a good car” she said emphasising on ‘your’ given the fall out.
“I wonder why we let it go.” He was left bemused trying to remember what was the reason to let it go given it wasn’t a bad car.
“You wanted to let it go because it was taking up too much space in the garage after the engine got way too old to be repaired” She reminded him thinking back to it now, it had become an old junk but the two of them held onto it for quite a while. Working on it on the weekends, basically he’d work on it and she would keep the conversation. She had a joke that Bucky was pursuing his abandoned mechanic dream every weekend on that car, that black sleeveless vest top laying his biceps all bare and as hot as he was working on the engine she hated the grime and the smell of automobile oil, he would purposely encage her between his arms and kiss her all over, then shower together later. Snap out of it.
“Had a good run with it, it even had a cassette player system” Bucky looked at her but she wasn’t looking back at him. Clearing her throat she shifted in her seat, they got rid of that car before they had a conversation of getting rid of their marriage but maybe the forthcoming was evident.
“It didn’t have that you modified it that way because we had a lot of cassettes between us” she corrected him as her lips curled into a small smile.
“Oh right” he nodded mirroring her smile, it just happened with him involuntarily every time she smiled and this was his first time in a while. “I think I lost some from my set, I maybe have 10-12 tapes left which is crazy given my set had about a 100”
“How would you lose them you never took them out of the house?” She asked with a faux confused look on her face.
“Exactly! It’s like they just vanished” he told her shaking his head, “I think the house needs a bit going over for me to find them”
Just humming in response she leaned back in the seat as the two fell into silence again, it wasn’t comfortable but it wasn’t awkward either. Nostalgia was often ugly. Their minds were going through ugly sweet things, Bucky’s mind wasn’t going through nostalgia it was in its usual state: consistent reminiscing of their marriage. In his life he didn’t have much things to lose in the first place except for her, she was the last golden thoughts he could have before he’d sleep and the first before he’d wake up all day, everyday. He didn’t have much to think back to fondly but it changed when she walked out of his life.
As he drove through the terrains, glancing through both the side view mirrors then back at her, she had fallen asleep. Leaning against the window, her eyes closed with a completely serene expression on her face he hadn’t seen in so long. She had actually fallen asleep around him. The scene had a strange intimacy to him, the fact that her mind still considered him safe enough to fall asleep around. Even after all dodged calls and messages, all the get-outs, changing her ways to not come across him in the city, telling everyone her mistrust in ‘this man’ yet she could fall asleep with him at the wheel just like the old times.
When they reached the abandoned safe house Bucky didn’t deem it proper to wake her up when she was already so exhausted. The others tied up and over explaining the Bob situation did not let her absence go unnoticed “What did you do with her?!” Ava asked, high suspicions it wasn’t good.
“We should have listened when she told us to be careful about you, he probably left her back there” Yelena said with a scoff, such a decorated man stooping so low.
“Woah woah” Bucky was crazed at the fact that these people assumed that he would hurt her, of all people. “She is still in the truck, she was sleeping very soundly so I didn’t want to wake her up.”
The red guardian snickered, “A real lover!” He commented in a positive way.
“Grow a pair, Bucky” John scoffed leaning against his binds, the man was on the phone for a while and would’ve happily disregarded Walked’s comments anyways.
“Are you like the podcast men?” Alexei asked facing Walker.
“—What does that mean?”
“Toxic masculinity, not good, insecure—bad just bad, are you them?” Alexei listed off his
very accurate descriptions of men who run podcasts.
“Men who run podcasts aren’t all that” Walker said rolling his eyes at the man’s poor judgement of those guys. “Besides Bucky is not a real lover, he’s freshly divorced”
“Do you not see the wedding ring?” Alexei asked nudging in bucky’s direction, the thick gold band was hard to miss: by anyone.
“Probably just wears it because it’s real gold or something” which was a bit ironic because even as a separated husband he didn’t have one on.
“On his wedding finger?” Ava asked raising a brow as she indulged in the divorce too, tied up they had nothing better to talk about.
Before Yelena could pitch in her two cents too, Bucky got off the phone and started freeing the set of ‘thunderbolts’ out of their ties. Giving them a brief explanation of wanting to help Bob they were all on board, as they headed back down to the truck, it was empty. The back and the front, the highly trained ex assassin went full into visible panic mode with her out of sight. A specific drop of his heart only her absence could cause him to feel.
It was difficult trying to explain to the bunch of all-of-a-sudden-ride-or-dies god knows where she picked up from, that her husband of three years and counting with a small bump of divorce of four months would be the last person in this world to hurt her. However difficult it was he managed to get his point across and decided they were off to a detour before getting to Valentina’s HQs.
Once they loaded back in the truck he drove with determination to get where he had deduced he would find her. Their old apartment, she kept her original gear there. If there was one thing he knew about her she was to never back down from a fight, however big and impossible. That had been his biggest fright throughout their marriage, not a single bone in his body had moved on from.
Bucky thought he could fetch her back down himself but he thought wrong, apparently they did not trust him with her so all or thunderbolts went up the six story building. As expected the door was open, “How many times have I told you to keep this locked?” It really wasn’t difficult to fall back into old habits. Always leaving in a hurry, always forgetting to lock doors. He thought to himself but it wasn’t just about locking the door when he hoped the door was open.
“Again?!” She exclaimed walking out of the bedroom into the living fixing the belts around her gear, her old gear. The most trusted one. It was a superstition of hers really, Bucky knew it affected nothing no combat flexibility or space…it was just old. “How did you all not manage to lose him?”
“We didn’t know if you left or he did something” Ava filled her in about her doubting their capabilities to lose Bucky by choice.
“He wouldn’t.”
“—I wouldn’t!”
Both of them said at the same time.
To avert the sync she refocused on strapping her knives into her suit, in all places and possible belt gaps. “Hey, is that mine?” Bucky’s attention went to the set of two in her hands she was about to fixate.
“No it’s not.” Caught, she hurriedly tried to wrap it in her suit.
“Yes it is, those are mine!” He huffed; it had been a long while since he had to be in a position where he would need all his knives but he remembers and counts all the ones he’s had and he knew exactly which ones were missing, surprisingly right after the divorce. “That set is a wedding gift from Sam if I remember correctly!”
“Exactly! It was my wedding too I can keep them!” She stood her ground, well aware it was a set of two, one for him&her type but it was too beautiful to break the set and she wanted both those knives. He hadn’t noticed it this entire time.
“You don’t get to keep them both I get to keep one.” He argued, validly so. “I can’t believe you just took these both with you letting me know once”
“You never asked! All this time you kept coming at my place for the pillow covers, cushions-literally last month you knocked on my door because you thought I took the tv remote with me! You never asked about these” she pointed at the knives and somewhere along the lines both of them knew Bucky was just finding reasons to see her again and she was allowing it too.
“Wow” Yelena commented at the desperate measure. Given the time they were short on this bickering was too intresting to be stopped abruptly.
In the haste to keep the knives to herself in her suit dropped it, giving Bucky the leverage to pick it up and examine it. He bent down to get it and found stored cassettes in the coffee table. “You have got to be kidding me!” He exclaimed frustrated as he got out all the cassettes, he thought were missing. “You had these the whole time?!”
“—I must have packed them by mistake when I moved out” she shrugged trying to downplay how purposeful it was but he saw through it.
“These are all my classics, you didn’t even ask me before taking them in the settlement?!” Bucky huffed going through the tapes.
Cursing under her breath she face palmed herself, for some reason this day was getting way too long. “Look I know the divorce agreement never said-“
“I didn’t even read that” Bucky scoffed shuffling through the tapes he thought he had ‘lost.’
“You signed it without reading?” Surprised she raised her brows.
He put the box down on the coffee table and nodded with a shrug, making a mental note that he will come by at her place over and over for all the tapes and not just take them altogether. There were around 93 tapes in there which belonged to him. 93 excuses to see her. “It was you, I just trust you.”
“See!” Alexei cackled giving Walker a big pat on his back for being right about the lovers fact. “Very silver springs”
“Silver springs?” Yelena asked raising her brows at the refrence.
“Like the song.” Alexei spoke with his thick accent ‘Like zhe songh’ “Never get away from the sound of a woman that loved you” he even relayed the lyrics from the group, Ava nodding at the obvious relation.
“He still wears the wedding ring though” Yelena pointed out trying to frame the dynamics of who’s who for the song reference.
“He would be Stevie Nicks.” Ava clarified stating the obvious as Alexei smiled wide at her, nothing like someone getting the perfect reference.
“What the hell?” The ex wife in question did not take that insult lightly, she didn’t point it out all these months why he still kept wearing the wedding ring. “Real good manipulation tactics, Congressman Barnes.”
“I didn’t even say anything!” Bucky exclaimed unsure how he got under the bus even though the Silver Springs refrence say very right with him. Eire how that refrence came up when no one knew he’s been having sessions of that song in his car ever since she left.
“You need to take off that wedding ring and the whole oh-she-left-me boo hoo theatrics like it wasn’t a mutual decision!” She let out unable to keep it in after these months of heartbroken yet preserving congressman Barnes, all the press issues.
“You know it wasn’t.” Bucky shot back, “I just didn’t want to you to work for Valentina and look what you’re gearing up for! The woman who tried to incinerate you!”
“It was a miscalculation of the job I took up and I got myself alive out of that” it was so frustrating trying to debate this again.
“You chose working for her over me! Over our marriage!” Bucky’s voice grew a bit louder than when he said before and the others just witnessed this break out awkwardly.
“Shouldn’t we let them have this conversation privately?” John muttered looking for the cue to exit this scene.
“No.” Alexei, regardless of his fanboy tendencies towards Barnes, he was somewhat interested in witnessing this, he was the least tensed person in the room. Ava and Yelena didn’t want to exit for the sake of interjecting just in case.
“No I chose a life you couldn’t dictate!” She cried out just as intensely as his voice. “And do not put this on me as if you don’t know what you did.”
“I saved your life that day. Just like today.” Bucky said in a lower voice flatly. Very unbothered and cold to the notion of saving her life, it was such a given to him. She would put herself in such situations and he would just have to make do. Reckless with not much thought but he could always rely on himself to keep that head over her shoulder.
“You put me in danger that day!” The agony in her voice was so evident, “You let me work on that assignment for months and on the final day—you leaked my coordinates on purpose so that Congressmen Barnes can have the best packet, you wanted to Valentina dragged to court and you got that at my expense.”
Putting his arms on his hips; taking in a deep breath. It was planned yes, he gave the feds her location for the OXE group mission she was put on, he could have told her to never take up the job but it had already led to so many countless fights. She had helped him through his electoral campaigns, supported him through it all but it just wasn’t the right fit for her. Combat was all she had known life to be so far, so her let her have her gigs. However he didn’t realise she could also work for Valentina without much thought and by the time he could pitch in she had already accepted the joke. He could have stopped it then too, but he didn’t. There was a bigger gig for him in it, exposing his wife’s secret assignment is how he got Valentina into impeachment proceedings.
Bucky wasn’t proud of keeping it a secret from her the entire time she was working on that assignment but it didn’t prove to be non fruitful, “I am the one who had to bear the expense of you leaving because you didn’t have it in yourself to stay, you just ran. Like a coward. Like always.”
That was a poke at a really old wound, she wasn’t a habitual leaver but at times when stuff got emotionally thick her fight or flight response was not fight. The first time, before they were even together…she always stayed away and distant and after their job was done, Sam upholding the shield. She just left. Leaving everything between Bucky and herself to be unsaid and be lost in fragments of season he just went after her, got the girl and the resr was history. Wretched, domestic, sad, far, a marriage in their history. However she couldn’t stomach that, “You piece of shit-!” She lunged at him full force and he barely held up his defence. More than happy for her to have at it.
“Woah woah woah” Walker spoke as chaos erupted in the small living room itself, not even out in the field yet.
Yelena got a hold of her however Ava wasn’t into the idea of not letting her get her frustration out, Alexei pulled back away, “We are the thunderbolts. Thunderbolts don’t fight ourselves. Not like this.” He said as the fight seemed to break.
“I am no teammates with any of you, especially that man!“ anger still coursing through her she pointed at Bucky as Yelena kept swaying her farther.
“Yeah yeah I think he gets it” Yelena tried to soothe her anger down so he could move on from this outburst.
“Can we just move on with the task at hand?” Before John could even finish that sentence Bucky was walking out the apartment broodingly, slamming the door open out of his way.
She stayed in her place taking in a few deep breaths in order to process it fast enough as everyone left, Yelena stayed with her, nodding off to red guardian in a small look that said ‘I’ve got her.’ “You okay?”
“-Yeah…let’s just get going.”

Please let me know if this story is a drag…for some reason it seemed better in my head than this! Regardless tune in for final two if you liked it! ;)

Wisdom And Death - N.R
Tumblr media
P: DemiGod!Ni-ki X Fem!Reader
Warnings: Teasing, Sword fighting, Tension, Obsessive Behaviour (no literally), Jealousy if you squint, Park Wonbin Cameo.
Synopsis: You’ve just discovered you're the daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom, and now you’re at Camp Half-Blood. You struggle to survive—but now Ni-ki, son of Hades seems to have taken an interest in you.
a/n: already done harry potter, why not try out percy jackson as well? i dont expect this to do good tbh..
--
You were a daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy. It was a truth you had only recently learned, and not in the way you might have expected. Your father—distant, aloof, and perpetually overworked—had dropped the bombshell on you like it was just another item on his to-do list. For years, he had told you that your mother had died in childbirth, a tragic story you’d grown up swallowing whole. But then, out of nowhere, he decided it was time you knew the truth.
At first, you didn’t believe him. Who would? The idea of being the child of a literal goddess sounded absurd, like something out of one of those cheesy fantasy movies you used to watch. But your dad wouldn’t let you argue. He brushed off your questions with the same detached efficiency he used for everything else and, before you knew it, you were being shoved into the backseat of a car with a suitcase in one hand and a head full of unanswered questions.
That’s how you ended up here: a camp in the middle of the woods with a wooden sign swinging gently in the breeze. You tilted your head to read it, the letters etched deep into the grain: Camp Half-Blood.
"Right," you muttered to yourself. "Because Camp Mythological Heritage would’ve been too on the nose."
Still, there was no turning back now. With a shrug, you stepped past the entrance and into a world that felt like something out of a fever dream. Kids your age—and younger—were scattered across the campgrounds, each of them doing something more insane than the last. One kid was scaling a rock wall that was on fire, while another sparred with a partner using what looked like actual swords. Over by the lake, a group of campers were... were those horses? No, centaurs. Actual centaurs.
You stood frozen, your mouth slightly ajar. It was like stepping into a fantasy novel. Or a madhouse. You hadn’t decided which one yet.
“Well,” you muttered to yourself, “this is either going to be the best thing that ever happened to me... or the absolute worst.”
You made your way toward the center of the camp, still trying to process the sheer chaos unfolding around you. Everyone seemed so... at home here. But you, well, you felt like an outsider. Your entire life had been one thing, and now it was completely turned upside down. As you walked, you tried to ignore the tiny pit of unease growing in your stomach. This wasn’t what you had imagined. Then again, you hadn’t imagined much of anything.
Before you could spiral too much, a voice broke through your thoughts. "You must be the daughter of Athena," it said, smooth and calm, yet somehow with a touch of familiarity, as if it had known you your whole life.
You blinked up at the speaker, startled. Standing before you was a centaur—half man, half horse—his chest broad and dignified, and his eyes sharp, like he could see right through you. He was somehow... kind. A strange contrast to the world you had just walked into.
“Welcome,” he continued, extending a hand that you shook uncertainly. “I’m Chiron. I know this must be overwhelming, but we’re here to help.”
You raised an eyebrow. "Chiron? Like, the Chiron from Greek mythology?"
"That would be me," he said with a small chuckle. "But I’ve been around for a long time, you'll find the name a bit more casual in a place like this."
You blinked again, not sure how to react. This wasn’t the kind of welcome you had expected, but then again, nothing about this situation was what you’d imagined.
As Chiron began to explain the camp, his words flowed with an ease that made everything sound... normal. Like discovering you were the child of a goddess wasn’t as monumental as it seemed. He explained the demigod life with a sense of nonchalance, detailing the training you’d undergo. Everything had a rhythm to it, like a battle plan carefully constructed and laid out.
"Your mother, Athena," he said, his gaze softening for a moment, "she's one of the most revered of the Olympian gods. Intelligence, strategy, wisdom—they all run through her blood, and now, through yours."
You had to hold back a sigh. You’d heard about your mother’s legacy, but it felt distant, like a story told to you by someone who didn’t quite know the ending. Chiron, however, spoke like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"And here," he gestured grandly, "is where you’ll be staying."
You followed his gaze to a modest cabin that seemed to exude an aura of quiet authority. It was simple, yet elegant in its design, with the unmistakable feeling that it had been built for both function and beauty.
“This is the Athena cabin,” Chiron said, his voice low, respectful. “It’s where the children of Athena reside. You’ll find it to be a place of study, of strategy. And you’ll find that, like your mother, you will be expected to think and lead carefully.”
You stood before it, still unsure of how you were supposed to feel. "I’m supposed to live here now?" you asked, voice almost too small to be your own.
"Yes," Chiron replied, his smile gentle. “And while it may take some time to get used to, you'll find that the family you never knew you had is here. The other daughters of Athena will become your sisters—your allies in this world.”
You nodded, though you couldn’t help the doubts swirling in your mind. Could you really belong here? Could you live up to this legacy, to the expectations of a goddess you barely knew?
“Come,” Chiron said, turning toward the cabin. “Let’s get you settled in. And don’t worry, we’ve all been through this transition. You're not alone.”
The inside of the Athena cabin was everything you expected and more. Rows of bookshelves lined the walls, crammed with texts on strategy, philosophy, mythology, and other subjects you couldn’t even begin to comprehend. The air smelled faintly of parchment and ink, with a touch of something herbal—maybe mint or rosemary. There were maps and blueprints pinned to corkboards, some of them marked with notes in handwriting so precise it could have been printed. A large table dominated the center of the room, strewn with scrolls, chessboards, and what looked like the half-finished plans for a miniature catapult.
Several campers were scattered around the room, their heads bent in concentration. Some were reading, others sketching battle tactics, and a few were locked in intense chess matches. They didn’t look up as you entered, but you could feel their awareness. It was as if they had already sized you up without even glancing your way.
“This is your home now,” Chiron said, his voice low as he gestured around the room. “The children of Athena value intellect, strategy, and wisdom. You’ll find that everyone here has their own strengths, and soon, you’ll discover yours as well.”
You nodded, unsure of what to say. The room was intimidating in a way you couldn’t quite put into words. It wasn’t the weapons or the books or even the aura of focus—it was the expectation. The unspoken weight that came with being Athena’s child.
One of the campers finally looked up, a girl with sharp features and dark hair pulled into a braid. She stood, crossing her arms as she approached. “New kid?” she asked, her tone more curious than unkind. Her eyes seemed to assess you in an instant.
“Yes,” Chiron answered before you could. “This is Athena’s newest appointed daughter.”
The girl’s expression shifted slightly, softening just enough to put you at ease. She extended a hand. “I’m Sophia. Welcome to the Athena cabin.”
You shook her hand, her grip firm but not overwhelming. “Uh, thanks. I’m—”
“Don’t worry,” Sophia interrupted, a small smirk tugging at her lips. “We’ll learn your name soon enough. For now, let’s just focus on getting you settled in.” She turned back to Chiron. “We’ll take it from here.”
Chiron nodded, his expression approving. “Good. I’ll leave you to it, then.” He placed a hand on your shoulder briefly, his presence steadying. “You’re in good hands here. I’ll check in with you later.”
And with that, he left, his hooves clopping softly against the wooden floor as he disappeared out the door.
Sophia turned back to you, her smirk widening. “Well, newbie, let’s get this over with. You’ll be bunking over here.” She led you to a bed near the back of the cabin, neatly made with gray blankets and pillows. A small wooden trunk sat at the foot of it, clearly meant for your belongings. “It’s not much, but you’ll get used to it.”
You set your bag down, glancing around at the other bunks. Everything was organized, almost militaristically so. No stray clothes, no clutter—just a quiet efficiency that made your own messy habits feel glaringly obvious.
Sophia must have noticed your hesitation because she raised an eyebrow. “Don’t worry. We don’t bite. Much.” She tilted her head toward the other campers. “Most of us are too busy with our projects to bother anyone. Just don’t touch anyone’s stuff without asking, and you’ll be fine.”
You nodded, sitting on the edge of your bed. “So… what now?”
“Now,” Sophia said, crossing her arms again, “you try to survive. Training starts tomorrow morning, bright and early. Hope you’re ready to learn how to wield a weapon, because monsters won’t care how good you are at chess.”
Your stomach flipped at the mention of monsters, but you tried not to let it show. “Great,” you muttered. “Sounds fun.”
Sophia chuckled, shaking her head. “Don’t worry, newbie. We’ve all been where you are. You’ll find your place soon enough.”
With that, she walked off, leaving you alone to process everything. You lay back on the bed, staring up at the wooden ceiling. The sounds of the camp filtered in through the open windows—laughter, the clang of swords, the steady rhythm of feet pounding the ground.
You exhaled slowly, trying to let the noises outside soothe the storm of thoughts swirling in your mind. It didn’t work. How could it, when the weight of everything that had happened in the past few days pressed down on you like a lead blanket? You were the daughter of a goddess. A literal goddess. How were you supposed to live up to that? You didn’t feel particularly wise or strategic. You felt... normal. Average. Like a fish suddenly thrown into a sea of sharks.
A knock on the doorframe startled you out of your thoughts. You sat up quickly, your heart skipping a beat as you looked toward the entrance. A boy stood there, leaning casually against the frame with his arms crossed. His sandy blonde hair was messy, like he’d just come from sparring, and there was a faint smear of dirt on his cheek. He looked about your age, maybe a little older, with an easy confidence that made you feel even more out of place.
“Hey,” he said, his voice light but curious. “You’re the new Athena kid, huh?”
You nodded slowly, unsure of how to respond. “Uh, yeah. That’s me.”
He grinned, pushing off the doorframe and stepping inside. “Figures. You’ve got that look about you.”
You frowned, tilting your head. “What look?”
“You know,” he said, gesturing vaguely, “all serious and... thinking about ten things at once. Classic Athena kid behavior.”
You weren’t sure if that was a compliment or not. “And you are?”
“Jake,” he said, sticking out a hand. “Son of Apollo.”
You hesitated for half a second before shaking his hand. His grip was firm but friendly, and his smile was disarming. “Nice to meet you, I guess.”
“Guess?” he repeated with a mock pout. “Wow, tough crowd.”
You couldn’t help but smile a little, despite yourself. There was something about him that put you at ease, even if his confidence was a little overwhelming.
“So,” he said, glancing around the cabin before turning back to you, “how’s your first day going? Overwhelmed yet?”
“More like completely lost,” you admitted. “I don’t even know where to start.”
Jake nodded knowingly. “Yeah, that’s pretty normal. Everyone feels like that at first. But don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it. Just... try not to overthink everything. I know it’s, like, in your DNA or whatever, but trust me, this place is way easier to deal with if you just roll with the punches.”
“Right,” you said, not entirely convinced. “Easy for you to say. You’ve probably been here forever.”
“Three years,” he said, shrugging. “But it feels like forever sometimes. You’ll get used to it, though. And if you ever need someone to show you the ropes, I’m your guy.”
Before you could respond, there was a loud clang from outside, followed by a chorus of cheers. Jake glanced toward the window, his grin widening.
“Looks like the sparring matches are heating up,” he said. “You should come watch. It’s a good way to see what you’re up against.”
You hesitated, glancing back at your bed. Part of you wanted to stay there, to retreat into yourself and avoid the chaos outside for just a little longer. But another part of you—smaller, quieter, but undeniably there—wanted to see what this world was really about.
“Alright,” you said finally, standing up. “Lead the way.”
Jake’s grin grew wider, and he gestured for you to follow him. “That’s the spirit. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, newbie. Time to see what you’re made of.”
You stepped out of the cabin, squinting against the sunlight as Jake led the way toward an open training area. The sounds of sparring filled the air—the clash of metal against metal, the thud of bodies hitting the ground, and the occasional shout of victory.
The training ground was a wide, dusty circle surrounded by spectators, most of them campers who were either waiting their turn or simply enjoying the show. In the middle, pairs of campers were locked in combat. Some used swords and shields, while some fought barehanded, relying on strength, agility, and strategy to try and knock each other down.
“Pretty cool, huh?” Jake said, glancing over his shoulder at you.
You nodded, your eyes wide as you took in the scene. “Yeah. Intense, though.”
Jake chuckled. “You get used to it. Let’s introduce you to some of the gang. You’re going to be seeing a lot of these faces, so might as well start remembering names.”
He led you over to a group of campers who were sitting on a bench, watching the matches with keen interest. They turned as you approached, their expressions ranging from curious to welcoming.
“This is Soobin,” Jake said, gesturing to a tall boy with jet-black hair and kind eyes. He offered you a small smile, his voice calm as he spoke. “Son of Apollo.”
You nodded, trying to commit his name and face to memory. “Nice to meet you, Soobin.”
Next, Jake pointed to a girl with short, choppy hair dyed a silvery gray. Her arms were crossed, and she had a confident smirk that told you she didn’t take herself too seriously. “This is Chaewon, daughter of Ares. She’s one of the best fighters here, so don’t get on her bad side.”
Chaewon snorted. “I’m not that scary.” She winked at you. “Unless you’re dumb enough to challenge me, of course.”
You laughed nervously, making a mental note to stay far away from her during sparring sessions.
Jake moved on to a pair of twins who were practically radiating energy. They had identical bright smiles and matching dimples. “These two are Jiwoo and Jiyeon, daughters of Hermes. If anything goes missing, it’s probably their fault.”
“Hey!” Jiyeon protested, though her grin didn’t waver. “We’ve been so well-behaved lately.”
“Relatively,” Jiwoo added with a wink.
You couldn’t help but smile at their playful energy. “Got it. Keep my stuff locked up.”
“Smart girl,” Jiwoo said approvingly.
Jake led you around the rest of the training ground, introducing you to more campers.
There was Minho, son of Hephaestus, a quiet boy with soot-streaked hands and a shy smile who loved to tinker with weapons and gadgets. “If you need a custom weapon or armor, come find me,” he said softly.
Then there was Yeji, daughter of Demeter, who was tending to a small garden on the outskirts of the training area. She wiped her hands on her jeans and smiled warmly. “If camp food gets boring, I can help you find the best fruits and veggies around.”
And finally, Jake introduced you to Seungmin, son of Dionysus, who was leaning against a tree with his arms crossed. “Good luck surviving your first week.”
“Uh, thanks?” you said, not entirely sure if that was encouragement or a warning.
By the time Jake finished the introductions, your head was spinning with names, faces, and parentage. You did your best to commit them all to memory, but you had a feeling it was going to take a while before you got them all straight.
Jake clapped you on the shoulder, grinning. “Not so bad, right? Everyone’s pretty chill once you get to know them.”
“Sure,” you said, though you still felt a little overwhelmed. “But it’s a lot to take in.”
“Trust me, you’ll be fine,” Jake said confidently. He nodded toward the sparring ring. “Now, want to watch a match or two? Or are you feeling brave enough to give it a try yourself?”
You glanced at the campers sparring in the ring, their movements fast and fierce. Part of you wanted to jump in, to prove to yourself that you could handle this new life. But another part wasn’t quite ready.
“I think I’ll stick to watching for now,” you said with a small laugh.
Jake nodded, his grin never fading. “Fair enough. Let’s find a good spot, then. You’re going to want to pay attention—there’s a lot you can learn just from watching.”
Jake led you to a shaded spot under a tree with a perfect view of the sparring ring. He plopped down on the ground, motioning for you to do the same. You settled in beside him, your eyes fixed on the action.
"See that?" Jake nudged you, pointing at one of the fighters. "That’s Hyunjin, son of Aphrodite."
You nodded, watching as Hyunjin disarmed his opponent with a flourish that looked almost effortless.
The match ended with a loud cheer, and you were about to ask Jake a question when the atmosphere in the training ground shifted as someone new stepped into the ring.
He was tall—easily the tallest person you’d seen so far—and carried himself with a quiet confidence that was somehow more intimidating than if he’d been loud and boastful. His dark hair fell just over his sharp eyes, and in his hand, he twirled a sword with the kind of ease that made it look like an extension of his arm.
“Who’s that?” you leaned over and whispered to Jake, unable to tear your eyes away from the newcomer.
Jake followed your gaze and chuckled softly. “That’s Ni-ki,” he said. “Son of Hades. Don’t feel bad if he gives you the chills—he does that to everyone.”
You didn’t respond. You were too focused on Ni-ki as he stepped into the center of the ring, his gaze cool and unbothered as he sized up his opponent. The person across from him was someone you didn’t recognize—a stocky boy who looked strong but not nearly as composed.
The match began, and from the very first move, it was clear that Ni-ki was on a completely different level. He didn’t just fight—he dominated. His movements were precise, calculated, almost lazy in their efficiency. Every swing of his sword, every step he took, was purposeful. It was like he was playing a game of chess, except the pieces were his opponent’s mistakes, and he was three moves ahead the entire time.
You found yourself holding your breath as you watched. The other boy lunged, swinging his weapon with all his might, but Ni-ki sidestepped effortlessly, his expression bored. With a flick of his wrist, he disarmed the boy, sending his weapon skidding across the ground.
The fight ended in seconds. Ni-ki didn’t gloat, didn’t smile—he simply turned and walked away, his sword resting on his shoulder as if it weighed nothing.
The crowd erupted into cheers and murmurs, but you were still frozen in place, your eyes following Ni-ki as he disappeared toward the edge of the training area.
“You okay?” Jake asked, nudging you lightly.
“Yeah,” you said quickly, though your voice felt distant even to your own ears.
Jake smirked knowingly. “Yeah, he has that effect on people. Don’t let him intimidate you too much, though. He’s not as scary as he looks.”
You glanced at Jake, raising an eyebrow. “Really?”
“Okay, maybe he is,” Jake admitted with a laugh. “But he’s not all bad. He’s just... intense.”
Intense. That felt like an understatement. You looked back toward where Ni-ki had gone, half expecting him to be watching from the shadows. But he was gone, leaving you with a strange, lingering curiosity that you couldn’t quite shake.
As the sparring matches wound down, you decided to take the chance to explore more of the camp. There was so much to take in—the cabins, the armory, the various training areas—it all felt like a strange blend of summer camp and battlefield.
You were just passing by the archery range when something zipped by your head, close enough that you felt the breeze as it passed. You yelped, instinctively ducking as the arrow thudded into a target a few feet away.
“Oh my gods, I’m so sorry!” a voice called out.
You turned toward the source of the voice, your heart still racing, and froze. The guy jogging toward you was... well, there was no other way to put it: stunning. He had soft, wavy hair that caught the sunlight just right, warm brown eyes, and a jawline that looked like it had been carved by one of the gods themselves. Was everyone here this ridiculously attractive?
“Uh, it’s okay,” you managed to say, brushing off the shock. “I dodged in time.”
He let out a huff of relief, running a hand through his hair. “Phew. For a second there, I thought I’d actually hit you. That would’ve been one heck of a first impression.”
You laughed nervously, trying not to stare too hard. “Yeah, not exactly the warmest welcome, but I’ll survive.”
He grinned, his confidence shining through. “Still, almost hitting the newbie? That’s got to be a new low for me.” He extended a hand toward you. “I’m Wonbin, son of Aphrodite. And before you say anything, yes, I’m that good-looking because of my mom. Comes with the territory.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his candor as you shook his hand. “I’m Y/N. Daughter of Athena.”
“Ah, an Athena kid,” he said, his grin turning into a smirk. “Figures. You’ve got that sharp, calculating look in your eyes. Kind of intimidating, actually.”
You raised an eyebrow, crossing your arms. “Intimidating? Me? You’re the one firing arrows at innocent bystanders.”
Wonbin laughed, the sound light and easy. “Fair point. I’ll owe you one for that—free archery lessons, maybe? You know, to keep you from dodging arrows next time.”
You rolled your eyes, but the offer didn’t sound half-bad. “I’ll think about it.”
“Do that,” he said with a wink. “Anyway, I should probably get back to practice before Chiron yells at me again. See you around, newbie.”
As he walked back toward the range, you couldn’t help but shake your head with a smile. If nothing else, Camp Half-Blood was full of... colorful personalities.
--
Your aimless wandering had brought you to the edge of the camp, where the cabins grew more spaced out and quiet. One cabin in particular caught your attention—it was darker than the others, its aura foreboding and unnervingly still. The door was closed, and the windows were tinted, making it impossible to see inside. You tilted your head, curiosity tugging at you as you wondered which camper called this place home.
“You’re pretty far from your cabin.”
The sudden voice made you jump, and you whipped around quickly, heart thudding in your chest.
Oh.
It was Ni-ki.
He stood there like a shadow given form, his dark eyes glinting in the dim light. His expression was unreadable, and he seemed even taller up close—towering over you with an intensity that made you instinctively take a step back.
“What are you doing out here?” he asked, his voice low and even, though there was a hint of something in his tone—amusement, maybe? Or just curiosity?
You cleared your throat, hoping he didn’t notice how startled you were. “I, uh… I was just exploring. Didn’t mean to wander this far.”
Ni-ki’s gaze flicked to the dark cabin behind you, and for a moment, his expression softened—just barely. “This isn’t exactly the friendliest part of camp,” he said. “Especially for someone new.”
You glanced back at the cabin, suddenly feeling a little foolish for standing there. “Whose cabin is it?”
“It’s mine,” Ni-ki said simply.
Your eyes widened slightly as you looked back at him. “Yours? Oh.”
He raised an eyebrow at your reaction, crossing his arms over his chest. “What, expecting a skull on the door or something?”
“No,” you said quickly, then hesitated. “Well, maybe.”
Ni-ki huffed a quiet laugh, though it was more like a sharp exhale. “Relax. It’s just a cabin, not the gates of the Underworld.”
You weren’t entirely sure about that, given the eerie vibe the place gave off, but you decided not to push it. “Right. Sorry for… lurking.”
He studied you for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he were trying to figure you out. The silence stretched just long enough to feel uncomfortable before he finally spoke again.
“You’re the new Athena kid, right?”
You nodded. “Yeah. How’d you know?”
“Jake doesn’t shut up,” he said bluntly, though there was the faintest twitch of a smile at the corner of his mouth.
You let out a nervous laugh, unsure of how to respond. Ni-ki didn’t seem like the kind of person you could easily read—or impress, for that matter.
“Well,” he said, shifting his weight slightly, “if you’re done wandering, you should probably head back to your cabin. This side of camp isn’t exactly the best place to hang out.”
“Why?” you asked before you could stop yourself.
Ni-ki’s expression darkened, and for a split second, you thought he wasn’t going to answer. But then he stepped closer—just enough to make you aware of how much taller he was—and said quietly, “Let’s just say not everything here is as safe as it looks.”
A chill ran down your spine at his words, and you swallowed hard, nodding. “Got it. Heading back now.”
Ni-ki stepped aside, gesturing for you to go. As you walked past him, you couldn’t help but glance back over your shoulder. He was still standing there, watching you with an unreadable expression, the dark cabin looming behind him like a shadow.
Something about him lingered in your mind as you made your way back to your own cabin.
When you pushed open the door to the Athena cabin and paused. Inside, the girls were gathered in a tight circle on the floor, their heads close together, whispering and giggling in a way that seemed almost conspiratorial. Books, notebooks, and even a small chalkboard sat in the middle of the ring, covered in scrawled notes and diagrams.
The moment you stepped in, all eyes turned to you. You froze under their collective gaze, unsure of whether you’d just walked into something secret or sacred.
“What are you doing?” you asked hesitantly, glancing between them.
Sophia, the girl who’d first greeted you when you arrived, smiled and gestured for you to sit beside her. “Come join us. We’re just quizzing each other—it’s kind of a thing we do regularly.”
You hesitated for a moment before shrugging and stepping forward. Sophia shifted to make space for you, and as you sat down, you noticed the mix of curiosity and warmth in the girls’ faces.
“We’ll start a new round for you,” said Haewon, her voice steady but kind. She had a book open in her lap, the pages filled with notes in tiny, precise handwriting. “Do you want to give it a try?”
“Sure,” you said, unsure of what exactly you were getting yourself into but willing to play along.
Ryujin grinned, leaning back on her hands. “Alright, let’s see if the new girl can keep up.”
Yunjin nudged her with a playful glare. “Be nice.”
The first question came from Soyeon, who looked at you with sharp, calculating eyes. “Who was the mother of Perseus?”
Your brain scrambled for the answer, and you barely managed to get it out. “Danaë.”
Soyeon nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Good. Next.”
The questions came rapid-fire after that, bouncing between Greek mythology, mathematical equations, Roman history, and even abstract, theoretical problems.
“What’s the square root of 729?”
“27.”
“Who was the first Roman emperor?”
“Augustus.”
“If a tree falls in the forest and no one’s around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
“…Uh, depends on your definition of ‘sound.’”
The girls laughed at that one, even Leeseo, who had been scribbling furiously in a notebook the entire time.
Every time you got an answer right, you felt a surge of pride, and when you got one wrong, the girls explained it without a hint of judgment.
Sophia leaned over at one point, nudging you with her shoulder. “You’re doing better than I did my first time.”
“Really?” you asked, half-laughing as Haewon fired off another question about theoretical physics.
“Really,” Sophia said with a grin. “You’ll fit right in.”
You had proven it to yourself. You were one of them.
--
The morning light filtered through the trees, as you stood in the training area, still feeling the weight of the armor strapped to your body. It wasn’t much—light armor, a sword, and a shield—but it was enough to make you feel like you were suddenly expected to be someone else, someone capable of defending themselves.
You awkwardly adjusted the straps, wondering just how much of a disaster your first training session would be. You didn’t even know what to do with the sword yet—let alone how to hold the shield properly.
That’s when you felt it—someone’s gaze on you. You turned, and your eyes locked with a guy standing just a few paces away. You recognized him immediately. It was hard not to—he was a son of Ares, and he looked the part. Broad-shouldered, with a sharp, aggressive expression, his dark eyes narrowed as he sized you up, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Are you just going to stand there all day, or are you going to learn how to use that thing?” he called out, his tone sharp, almost challenging.
You straightened up, heart racing. “Uh… I’m not really sure what to do…”
He snorted, clearly unimpressed. “Yeah, I figured. Don’t worry, kid. You’re about to find out.”
Before you could react, he was on you—his movements swift and brutal as he lunged forward, his sword aimed directly at your chest. You barely had time to raise your shield, the force of the blow almost knocking you off your feet.
Your heart pounded in your ears, and for a moment, you wondered if you should just give up—if maybe you weren’t cut out for this. But then, a quiet voice in the back of your mind reminded you who your mother was. Athena. Goddess of wisdom and strategy. You weren’t just any camper here. You had the blood of a warrior in you, even if it felt distant.
“Focus,” you whispered to yourself, trying to steady your breathing.
The son of Ares swung again, but this time you were ready. You sidestepped, your body moving almost instinctively as your shield blocked the next attack. You could feel the heat from his strikes, the raw power behind each one.
“Not bad,” he grunted, clearly surprised by your ability to dodge. “But don’t just block—counterattack!”
Counterattack. You barely had time to think before another strike came at you, but this time, your instincts took over. You shifted, raising your sword and parrying his strike. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough to push him off balance. You swung back, though he easily blocked it with his own shield.
This continued for a few more rounds, the fight becoming more of a dance between the two of you, until you found yourself growing more comfortable, your movements becoming sharper and more deliberate. The son of Ares didn’t give you an inch, but you were beginning to see the patterns in his strikes—predicting where his next attack would come from, even as your breath grew heavier.
You didn’t win the sparring match—he was still faster, stronger, and more experienced—but by the time it ended, you felt greatful to be alive.
“Not bad for a newbie,” the son of Ares said, stepping back and giving you a nod of approval. “You’ve got some guts.”
You wiped the sweat from your brow, your heart still racing. “I... I didn’t think I could do that.”
He gave you a look that was almost approving, though his face still carried that rough edge. “You’re a daughter of Athena, right? You should’ve known you had it in you.”
You nodded, though doubt still lingered in the back of your mind. Were you really your mother’s daughter? Sure, you’d dodged and blocked the attacks, but did that make you a true warrior?
The son of Ares turned and walked away, leaving you standing there, your sword in hand and your shield still raised, as the sounds of camp life continued around you.
Just as you were trying to catch your breath, still processing the son of Ares’ brutal training session, you heard a voice—a familiar, mocking tone that sent a shiver down your spine.
“Well, well, looks like you’re still standing,” Ni-ki said, his voice smooth and teasing.
You looked up, and there he was. He was dressed in light armor like you, a sword and shield strapped to his side, his posture relaxed as he twirled his sword in his hand, almost as if he were showing off. The corner of his lips curled into a smirk as he locked eyes with you.
“What? You’re gonna just stand there?” Ni-ki teased, his tone light but laced with challenge.
You opened your mouth to respond, but before you could even form a sentence, Ni-ki moved.
His sword came down fast and hard, the sharp clang of metal on metal ringing through the air as you barely managed to raise your shield in time to deflect the blow. Your heart raced, your hands still shaky from the last sparring session, and now here he was—moving with a confidence and skill that was hard to match.
“Come on, I thought Athena’s kids were supposed to be smarter than this,” Ni-ki called out, his voice laced with amusement as he swung again. You had no choice but to dodge, the blade narrowly missing your side.
His attacks came rapid-fire, each one pushing you to the edge. It was like he was anticipating every move you made. You were barely keeping up, forced to sidestep and block with everything you had. He kept moving, his footwork impeccable as he darted around you, only giving you brief moments to catch your breath.
“Come on, you’re not still getting outclassed, are you?” Ni-ki called, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he swung again. You could feel the heat of the sword as it sliced through the air.
Frustration burned in your chest. You couldn’t keep dodging forever.
Without hesitation, you swung your sword at him, a wild, almost desperate strike aimed at his torso.
Ni-ki parried the blow effortlessly, deflecting it with a flick of his wrist. Then, he stopped and actually clapped.
“Well, at least you’re trying now,” he said, his smirk widening.
You froze for a moment, bewildered by his nonchalant attitude. Before you could process, he vanished.
One second he was in front of you, and the next—he was behind you. You didn’t even have time to react before you felt the lightest push to your back, and you were sent tumbling to the ground.
You gasped, staring up at Ni-ki as he stood over you. “What… what was that?”
Ni-ki simply raised an eyebrow, his gaze cool and almost bored. “That? Oh, just a little trick I picked up from my dad.”
Your mind raced, trying to comprehend what had just happened. “A trick?” you asked, still on the ground, trying to push yourself up.
“Yeah,” he said, his voice casual. “It’s an ability. Using shadows to teleport short distances, just like that.”
Your eyes widened in disbelief. Teleporting? From his father, Hades? It was the kind of power you’d only heard about in stories, something that seemed impossible to even imagine.
“Right…” you muttered, still on the ground, looking up at him in a mix of awe and frustration.
Ni-ki simply shrugged, his expression unreadable. “Not bad, though. You’ll catch up eventually. If you don’t want to end up on the floor every time.”
With that, he turned on his heel and walked off, leaving you sitting there in the dirt, your sword and shield at your side. You could feel the sting of both your physical exhaustion and your bruised pride.
He made it look so easy—effortless.
You stood up, brushing off the dirt from your armor with a frustrated sigh, your fingers lingering on the spots where the ground had scraped your skin. You were still catching your breath, but it was clear—combat wasn’t going to be your immediate strong suit, not like it was for some of the others.
“Yeah, I may have a long way to go with combat,” you muttered under your breath, “but there’s still other stuff I’m good at.”
That thought pushed you forward, and soon you were walking toward the archery range, a small glimmer of determination lighting the way. The bow had always felt more natural to you than the sword and shield, even before you knew about your mother.
The sound of arrows hitting targets echoed through the area as you arrived. The archery range was lined with targets, some already peppered with arrows, others waiting for their turn. A few campers were already practicing, some with impressive skill, others just beginning to find their rhythm.
You walked to one of the nearby racks, grabbing a bow and quiver of arrows. It was lighter than you remembered, but sturdy in your hands. You took a moment to steady yourself, feeling the familiar grip, testing the tension in your fingers.
"Mind if I join?" you asked, glancing at the nearest archer—a tall, lean girl with long black hair who was effortlessly nailing the bullseye on her target.
She turned to you, her eyes scanning your form before giving a small nod. “Sure, go ahead.”
You didn’t say anything more. You simply nocked an arrow, drew it back, and aimed. Your focus sharpened, everything around you fading away as you lined up your shot. A deep breath, and then you released the arrow.
It flew true, hitting the target dead center.
The girl raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. “Okay, I admit it. You’ve got skill.”
You couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at your lips. It wasn’t combat, but this—that felt like something you could excel at.
“Thanks,” you said, adjusting your stance and preparing for another shot. “I’ve always been better with a bow.”
You didn’t have the strength or speed that the others seemed to carry so naturally, but this was something you could control, something that felt more like you.
For a while, you just kept shooting, blocking out everything except the pull of the string, the release, and the thrill of hitting your target. It was grounding, in a way.
After a few more rounds, the girl who had been watching you approached again. She was still eyeing your shots, but this time with more interest.
“You’ve got good instincts,” she said, a hint of respect in her voice. “I’m Emily, daughter of Ares.”
You smiled at her, setting down the bow for a moment. “Nice to meet you. I’m Y/N. Daughter of Athena.”
Seoyeon nodded. “I can see that. You definitely have the focus of your mom.”
You didn’t know if it was a compliment or just an observation, but it felt like the first time someone actually saw the connection between you and Athena in a positive way.
“Thanks,” you said again, feeling a sense of pride. Maybe you still had a lot to prove, but you were starting to see the things you were good at.
A few days passed, and you’d settled into a routine at Camp Half-Blood. Though you weren’t great with a sword yet, you’d at least stopped embarrassing yourself entirely.
One morning, while heading back from the archery range, you spotted a familiar face lounging near the stables. Wonbin. He wasn’t holding a bow this time, nor was he causing chaos by almost hitting you with an arrow. Instead, he was leaning against a post, his arms crossed casually as he watched a group of campers walk by.
You hesitated for a moment before walking over, unsure of what to expect.
"Still dodging arrows, or have you gotten better?" he teased as you approached, a playful grin spreading across his face.
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at your lips. “I’m not dodging anything anymore. And, for the record, I’m actually pretty good with a bow.”
“Oh, I know. I saw you at the range yesterday,” he said, surprising you. “Not bad for a newbie.”
“Wow, high praise coming from you,” you shot back, crossing your arms.
Wonbin laughed, the sound light and easy, and for a moment, you realized just how relaxed he seemed compared to some of the other campers.
“You’re fun to mess with, you know,” he said, tilting his head slightly. “But I’m not just here to tease you. You looked a little stiff when you were sparring the other day. Want some help?”
You blinked, caught off guard. “You want to help me?”
“Why not? Someone’s gotta make sure you don’t embarrass yourself in front of everyone,” he said with a wink. “Besides, I’m a great teacher.”
You snorted but nodded. “Alright, fine. Show me what you’ve got.”
The two of you made your way to the training grounds, where it was surprisingly quiet for the time of day. Wonbin handed you a wooden training sword, the weight of it familiar but still slightly awkward in your hand.
“Okay, first things first,” Wonbin said, stepping in front of you. “Stop gripping it like it’s a lifeline. You’re not strangling the sword. Loosen up a bit.”
You adjusted your grip, and he nodded in approval.
“Good. Now, let’s see how you move.”
He took you through a few basic drills, correcting your stance and showing you how to shift your weight when you swung. Unlike the other demigods, Wonbin was patient. He didn’t push too hard or make you feel like you were failing every time you messed up. Instead, he laughed when you tripped over your own feet and offered encouragement when you got it right.
“You’re getting there,” he said after a particularly decent swing. “But you’re thinking too much. Stop trying to overanalyze every move.”
“Thinking is kind of my thing,” you muttered, adjusting your stance again.
“Well, turn it off for a bit. Just feel the movement. Trust me, it’ll click eventually.”
And to your surprise, it did start to click. Slowly but surely, the awkwardness of holding a sword began to fade, replaced by a sense of control you hadn’t felt before.
“You’re actually pretty good at this,” you admitted after a while, lowering your sword to wipe the sweat from your brow.
“Told you I’m a great teacher,” Wonbin said with a smirk. “But you’re not bad yourself. You’ve got potential. Just stop overthinking.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Easier said than done.”
The two of you sat down for a break, and you found yourself relaxing in his company. Wonbin was suprisingly easy to talk to.
“You know,” you said after a moment, “you’re actually kind of fun to be around. When you’re not shooting arrows at me, I mean.”
Wonbin grinned, leaning back on his hands. “I’ll take that as a compliment. And, for the record, I wasn’t trying to hit you. Just keeping you on your toes.”
“Sure you were,” you said, rolling your eyes.
While laughing at one of Wonbin’s jokes, you suddenly felt a strange sensation, like the weight of someone’s gaze on you. It was sharp, unrelenting, and impossible to ignore. You turned your head, scanning the area, and that’s when your eyes locked onto him.
Ni-ki.
He was leaning casually against a tree not far from the training grounds, an apple in one hand as he bit into it with an air of complete indifference. But his eyes told a different story. He wasn’t just looking at you; he was staring.
For a moment, you froze, caught in his intense gaze. His expression was unreadable, but there was something in the way he was watching you that made your stomach flip.
“Uh, hello?” Wonbin’s voice broke through your thoughts. “You still with me, or did you just see a ghost?”
You blinked, tearing your eyes away from Ni-ki to look back at Wonbin. “What? No, I’m fine. Just… thought I saw something.”
Wonbin followed your gaze and immediately caught sight of Ni-ki. He let out a low whistle. “Ohhh, I see. Tall, dark, and broody over there, huh? That’s Ni-ki for you. Likes to stare people down for no reason. Don’t let him get to you.”
“I’m not letting him get to me,” you said quickly, but the heat rising to your cheeks betrayed you.
Wonbin grinned, clearly amused. “Sure, sure. Just saying, he’s got that whole mysterious bad boy thing going on, doesn’t he? It’s kind of his signature.”
You rolled your eyes, trying to play it cool, but your curiosity was already piqued. Without realizing it, your gaze drifted back to Ni-ki.
This time, he smirked. Just the faintest twitch of his lips, but it was there, and it made your heart skip a beat. Like he knew exactly what he was doing.
Wonbin caught the exchange and snorted. “Oh, this is gonna be interesting. You two haven’t even talked yet, have you?”
“Not really,” you admitted, feeling a little self-conscious.
“Well, you better get used to it,” Wonbin said, leaning back on his hands. “Ni-ki doesn’t just stare at people for fun. If he’s looking at you like that, he’s either curious or he’s decided you’re worth messing with. Either way, good luck.”
You swallowed hard, stealing one last glance at Ni-ki before turning your attention back to Wonbin.
“Yeah, thanks,” you muttered, trying to shake the strange mix of nerves and intrigue Ni-ki had sparked in you.
You found yourself staring back at Ni-ki, unable to stop. His gaze was unwavering, sharp, and entirely unapologetic. There was a challenge in it, though you couldn’t tell what kind. Instead of looking away, you tilted your head slightly, trying to match his intensity, as if silently asking, What? What do you want?
Ni-ki took another bite of his apple, his eyes never leaving yours. That smirk tugged at his lips again, subtle but undeniably there, like he found your silent defiance amusing.
Meanwhile, Wonbin was still talking. Something about strategy, sparring tips, or maybe camp gossip—you weren’t really sure. His voice had faded into the background, your attention too firmly locked on Ni-ki.
“...and that’s why you never spar with a son of Hermes if they’re smiling,” Wonbin said with a laugh, nudging your arm lightly. “You listening?”
“Mm-hmm,” you mumbled, not breaking eye contact with Ni-ki.
Wonbin followed your line of sight and let out a low chuckle. “You’re still looking at him? Wow, he’s really got you hooked, huh?”
That snapped you out of it. You turned back to Wonbin, your cheeks heating up. “I’m not—! I was just—!”
Wonbin grinned, cutting you off with a knowing look. “Relax, I’m just messing with you. But seriously, if you’re gonna have a staring contest with Ni-ki, you better prepare to lose."
You glanced back toward the tree, but Ni-ki was no longer leaning there. He had disappeared, as silently as he’d been watching you, leaving nothing behind but the faint rustle of leaves in the breeze.
“See? Creepy, right?” Wonbin said, shaking his head. “He’s like a shadow.”
You frowned, a mix of confusion and curiosity bubbling in your chest. “He’s… something, alright.”
Wonbin laughed and stood, brushing dirt off his pants. “Come on. If you keep thinking about him, you’ll drive yourself crazy. Let’s hit the dining pavilion before lunch is gone.”
You followed him, but your thoughts kept drifting back to Ni-ki. There was something about him, something you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
--
You swore life had a vendetta or something against you. Beacuse no matter where you went, no matter how much you tried to focus on your surroundings, he was there.
It wasn’t just his presence that was getting to you—it was how he lived in your head now, too. Every time your mind wandered, it seemed to settle on him.
Ni-ki, leaning against a tree.
Ni-ki, passing by with that ever-present smirk.
Ni-ki, sparring in the distance and throwing a glance your way like he knew you’d been watching.
It was irritating, frustrating, and honestly a little confusing. You didn’t even know the guy, but somehow, he’d gotten under your skin.
Finally, you decided you needed to clear your head. Without telling anyone, you set off on a walk, leaving the noisy heart of camp behind. The greenery stretched out around you, tall trees swaying gently in the breeze. It was quiet here, save for the rustling of leaves and the occasional birdcall.
You didn’t have a destination in mind, nor did you need one. All you wanted was space to breathe, to think without distractions, without Ni-ki lurking in your peripheral vision.
The further you walked, the more you began to relax. The sunlight filtering through the leaves painted dappled patterns on the ground, and the earthy smell of the forest calmed your racing thoughts.
You found yourself stopping by a small clearing, where the grass was soft and the air felt lighter. Sitting down, you let out a long sigh, letting yourself unwind. For the first time in days, your mind felt quiet.
But of course, the peace didn’t last.
“Running away from something?”
The voice was low, smooth, and instantly recognizable. Your eyes shot open, and sure enough, there he was—Ni-ki, standing at the edge of the clearing, hands tucked casually into his pockets.
You groaned, throwing your head back. “Seriously? Do you just appear everywhere, or do you follow me on purpose?”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Why would I follow you? You’re the one who always looks at me.”
Your cheeks flushed, and you scrambled to your feet. “I do not always look at you!”
Ni-ki stepped closer, the smirk on his face growing. “You sure about that?”
“Yes!” you snapped, though the heat in your face betrayed you.
For a moment, he said nothing, just studying you with that unreadable expression of his. Then, he shrugged. “If you say so.”
“Why are you even here?” you asked, crossing your arms. “Don’t you have someone else to bother?”
Ni-ki shrugged, the corner of his mouth curling up in that signature smirk. “Probably. But where’s the fun in that?”
He started walking, slow and deliberate, circling around you like a predator sizing up its prey. His steps were light, almost lazy, but his eyes—sharp and dark—never left yours.
“You make it too easy,” he continued, his tone teasing. “The way you get all flustered? Kind of entertaining.”
Your arms tightened over your chest as you turned to keep him in your line of sight. “I’m not flustered.”
He stopped just behind you, leaning in slightly. “You sure about that?”
The hair on the back of your neck stood up as his voice dropped lower, teasing and amused. You spun around to face him, trying to hold your ground.
“Yes, I’m sure!” you snapped, glaring at him.
Ni-ki raised an eyebrow, his smirk deepening. “Alright, if you say so.” He resumed his slow pacing, his hands tucked casually into his pockets. “But, you know, you’re kind of fun to mess with.”
You groaned, running a hand through your hair. “Why me, though? There are literally dozens of other people you could annoy.”
“True,” he said, tilting his head as if he were considering it. “But they’re boring. You’re… different.”
“Different how?” you demanded, narrowing your eyes at him.
He stopped in front of you, leaning slightly to meet your gaze. “I haven’t figured that out yet,” he said, his voice soft but still laced with that infuriating teasing edge. “But I will.”
You opened your mouth to respond, but he stepped back, cutting you off before you could speak.
“Anyway,” he said casually, stretching his arms over his head, “don’t let me stop you from enjoying your little walk.”
He turned to leave, but just as he passed by, he glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. “Try not to miss me too much.”
Your jaw dropped, and before you could stop yourself, you blurted out, “Miss you? I—”
But Ni-ki was already walking away, his soft laughter trailing behind him as he disappeared into the trees.
You stood there, fists clenched at your sides, your face burning with frustration. “Unbelievable,” you muttered under your breath, walking away while muttering a string of complaints that only the trees around you could hear. “Unbelievable. Who does he think he is? ‘Try not to miss me too much.’ Ugh, I’ll show him who’s missing who.” You kicked at a stray rock on the path, watching it skitter off into the grass.
Your footsteps were heavier now, fueled by frustration, and your face was still hot from the way Ni-ki had managed to get under your skin again. It wasn’t just his teasing; it was how effortlessly he seemed to read you, like he knew exactly which buttons to press to rile you up.
“Stupid smirk. Stupid comments. Stupid Ni-ki,” you mumbled, rolling your eyes. You were so caught up in your thoughts that you didn’t realize you were stomping deeper into the forest until the sound of laughter and chatter from camp faded into the distance.
You stopped, taking a deep breath to calm yourself. The forest around you was quiet and peaceful, the sunlight filtering softly through the trees. It was supposed to help, but instead, your mind kept replaying the look on his face—the way his smirk seemed permanently etched there, like he knew he’d won whatever game he thought you were playing.
You let out a frustrated groan and plopped down on a mossy rock. “Why does he even care?” you muttered, staring at the ground. “Why can’t he just leave me alone?”
The forest offered no answers, just the distant rustle of leaves in the breeze. You stayed there for a moment, trying to push thoughts of Ni-ki out of your head. But of course, it was easier said than done.
After a while, you sighed and stood up, brushing the dirt off your clothes. “Fine. Whatever. Let him play his little games,” you said, mostly to yourself. “I’ve got better things to do than worry about him.”
With that, you turned back toward camp, determined to focus on literally anything other than Ni-ki. But as you walked, you couldn’t help but feel like this wasn’t the last time he’d find a way to cross your path—and your thoughts.
And you stuck to your decision. You ignored Ni-ki completely, refusing to give him even a shred of your attention. No glances, no responses, no reactions. If he was leaning against a tree in your line of sight, you’d look the other way. If he passed by during training, you’d keep your eyes locked on your target. If he tried to make one of his smug comments, you’d act like he wasn’t even there.
It wasn’t easy—he had a way of commanding attention whether you wanted to give it to him or not—but you were determined to win this silent battle.
But of course, Ni-ki figured out your plan quickly.
And now? Now he seemed more determined than ever to get under your skin.
“Awfully quiet today, aren’t you?” he’d say as he casually strolled by during your sword training, his voice laced with amusement.
You’d grit your teeth and keep practicing, ignoring him completely.
“Oh, come on, are we doing the whole ‘silent treatment’ thing now?” he teased another time, walking alongside you as you headed to the dining pavilion.
You didn’t even glance at him, speeding up your steps instead. He just chuckled, easily matching your pace.
And the more you ignored him, the harder he tried.
He’d pop up in the middle of your archery sessions, leaning casually against a tree just within your peripheral vision. He never said anything, just stood there with that maddening smirk, watching you until you missed a shot.
“Looks like you’re distracted,” he’d comment, his tone smug.
Still, you wouldn’t take the bait.
But Ni-ki didn’t give up.
One afternoon, during a strategy session with your cabinmates, you were deep in thought, discussing battle plans with Sophia when you heard a familiar voice behind you.
“I bet I could come up with something better,” Ni-ki said casually.
You tensed but kept your eyes on the map in front of you.
Sophia glanced between the two of you, her brows raised. “Uh… should we be concerned about this?”
“No,” you replied firmly, not even turning around.
Ni-ki leaned closer, his presence annoyingly obvious even though you refused to look at him. “Really? You’re just going to ignore me like that?”
“Yes,” you snapped before you could stop yourself.
Damn it.
Ni-ki straightened up, a victorious grin spreading across his face. “Ah, there you are. I was starting to think I’d lost my touch.”
You glared at him now, your resolve cracking. “What do you want, Ni-ki?”
He shrugged, his grin never fading. “Nothing, really. Just nice to know you’re still paying attention.”
You groaned and turned back to the map, pointedly ignoring his laughter as he walked away.
--
From the moment Ni-ki first laid eyes on you, something inside him shifted—something he didn’t recognize, didn’t fully understand, but couldn’t ignore. You were standing there, looking so out of place in your awkwardness, clutching a sword and shield like you had no idea what to do with them. You didn’t seem particularly strong, or fast, or even confident. And yet, he couldn’t stop staring.
It wasn’t just the way you looked—though that certainly didn’t hurt. There was something about your presence, something about the way you held yourself, even when you were nervous and uncertain. You didn’t cower, didn’t shrink away. You were stubborn in a way that amused and intrigued him.
Ni-ki had never believed in love at first sight. His father made it very clear that love—real love—was a dangerous thing, a distraction at best, a weakness at worst. But this? Whatever this was? It wasn’t weakness.
It was craving.
The kind of craving that gnawed at him, that made his chest tighten and his mind race. He wanted you, needed you, and it wasn’t just physical—though that was certainly part of it. It was deeper than that, more consuming. He wanted to know you, to unravel every layer of who you were, to understand what made you tick.
And he wanted to own you.
Not in a controlling, possessive way (or maybe it was, a little), but in the way that he wanted you to think of him the same way he thought of you. He wanted to occupy your every thought, to haunt your dreams and distract you during the day.
The rational part of him—the part that listened to his father’s warnings and tried to follow the unspoken rules—knew he shouldn’t feel this way. It was dangerous. Relationships between demigods were complicated enough, and this? This felt like it had the potential to destroy him.
But Ni-ki didn’t care.
Screw his father’s advice. Screw the rules. He’d never cared much for them anyway. All that mattered was you.
At first, he tried to keep his distance, watching from afar as you stumbled your way through camp life. He thought he could resist it, thought he could just… observe. But that only made it worse. The more he saw you—the way you laughed with others, the determined furrow of your brow during training, the moments when you thought no one was looking and let your guard down—the more he wanted you.
No, not wanted. Needed.
So he started testing you. Little things, at first. A teasing comment here, a smirk there, just to see how you’d react. And when you fired back, when you glared at him with that spark of defiance in your eyes, it only made him want you more.
You didn’t shy away from him like others did. You didn’t try to impress him or avoid him. You stood your ground, even when you were clearly annoyed—or flustered.
That was when he knew he was done for.
Was it love? Infatuation? Obsession? Ni-ki didn’t know, and he didn’t care to figure it out. All he knew was that you consumed him, and no amount of time or distance seemed to lessen the pull you had on him.
He couldn’t help it. You were the challenge he couldn’t resist, the flame he couldn’t stop himself from chasing.
And one way or another, he was going to have you. Even if it meant burning himself in the process.
--
You hadn’t really delved much into Greek mythology before. Sure, you’d heard the basics—Zeus, Hera, Poseidon—but the details? The stories? All the little quirks and scandals of the gods? None of that had ever crossed your radar. But now, you decided it was better late than never.
So, you borrowed—or, well, stole—a few books from one of your half-sisters. She probably wouldn’t miss them for a while anyway. Clutching the worn leather covers to your chest, you found a quiet place by the water, a spot where the trees cast long shadows and the sound of the camp faded into the background.
Settling down on a smooth rock, you cracked open the first book, its pages yellowed and filled with ornate text. As you began reading, the stories unfolded like vivid dreams in your mind. The gods were… messy, to put it lightly. Petty, dramatic, and surprisingly human for beings who supposedly ruled the cosmos.
It was fascinating, though. Each page gave you a little more insight into the world you were now a part of—the powers at play, the legacy you carried. You lingered on the pages about Athena, your mother. The goddess of wisdom, strategy, and war.
You ran a finger over an illustration of her, dressed in shining armor, an owl perched on her shoulder. It was hard to believe you had any connection to her. She seemed so… perfect. So otherworldly. How could someone like that have a daughter like you?
Lost in thought, you barely noticed the sound of footsteps behind you until a shadow fell over the pages of your book.
"Stealing books now? You’re full of surprises," a familiar voice drawled.
You didn’t need to look up to know who it was.
“Ni-ki,” you sighed, your tone flat. “What do you want?”
He crouched beside you, his sword dangling lazily from his belt, an apple in his hand—again. He took a bite and chewed slowly, like he had all the time in the world.
“Just curious,” he said, tilting his head to look at the book in your lap. “Ah, some light reading i see?”
You ignored him, turning the page and pretending to focus on the words in front of you. But you could feel his eyes on you, studying you like you were some kind of puzzle he was determined to solve.
After a moment of silence, he leaned closer, his shoulder brushing yours. “So, what are you reading about? Your mom?”
You gave him a sideways glance. “What’s it to you?”
He shrugged, taking another bite of his apple. “Just wondering if you’re finally starting to take this whole ‘demigod’ thing seriously.”
“I’ve always taken it seriously,” you shot back.
“Sure,” he said, his smirk widening. “That’s why you’re hiding out here instead of training.”
You snapped the book shut and turned to glare at him. “Do you ever get tired of bothering me?”
Ni-ki leaned back on his heels, his grin never fading. “Not really. You make it fun.”
You were about to turn and fire off a snarky comeback, something sharp to wipe that smug grin off his face, but the words got caught in your throat the moment you saw how close he was to you now.
When did he get so close?
Ni-ki had been leaning back a second ago, but now he was right there, barely a breath away. You could see the faint scar on his jawline, the sharp curve of his cheekbones, the way his dark eyes seemed to glint with something unreadable. It wasn’t just the physical proximity that unsettled you—it was the way he was looking at you, like you were the only thing that mattered in that moment.
Your body stiffened, unsure whether to step back or hold your ground, but your body refused to move. You told yourself it was irritation, frustration with his endless teasing, but deep down, you weren’t so sure.
“Cat got your tongue?” Ni-ki asked softly, his voice low and teasing, but it didn’t carry the same playful edge as before. His gaze flicked to your lips for the briefest of moments before meeting your eyes again, his expression unreadable.
You blinked, finally snapping out of whatever strange trance you’d fallen into. “What—what are you doing?” you managed to ask, though your voice came out quieter than you’d intended.
Ni-ki tilted his head slightly, the corner of his mouth curving into that maddening smirk. “Just wondering what it’d take to finally shut you up,” he murmured, his tone light but carrying an underlying intensity that made your stomach flip.
You opened your mouth to say something—anything—but the words died on your tongue when a voice interrupted from behind.
“Hey, uh… am I interrupting something?”
Both you and Ni-ki turned at the same time, and there stood Wonbin, looking between the two of you with a slightly raised eyebrow. His expression was casual enough, but there was a flicker of curiosity in his eyes as he took in the scene.
He didn’t linger on Ni-ki for long, though. His gaze settled on you, softening as he asked, “Do you want to grab something to eat? I was just heading to the pavilion, and, well… figured I’d ask if you wanted to come along.”
His voice held a hopeful edge, and you didn’t even hesitate.
“Yes!” you said, a little too quickly. You scrambled to your feet, brushing off the dirt and leaves. “Absolutely, I’m starving.”
Ni-ki raised an eyebrow, his smirk twitching as if he were trying to stifle a laugh. “Starving, huh?” he drawled, his tone dripping with amusement.
You shot him a glare but didn’t dignify him with a response. Instead, you walked over to Wonbin, grabbed his arm, and practically dragged him away before Ni-ki could say anything else.
“Let’s go,” you said, your voice a little sharper than intended as you pulled Wonbin toward the direction of the dining pavilion.
As you walked away, you could feel Ni-ki’s gaze burning into your back. You refused to look over your shoulder, but you didn’t have to. You could already picture the smug expression on his face, and it only made you grip Wonbin’s arm tighter.
Wonbin glanced down at you, a little surprised but clearly pleased. “Wow, I didn’t think you’d say yes that fast,” he said with a small chuckle. “Guess you were hungrier than I thought.”
You managed a smile, though your mind was still racing from the tension you’d just escaped. “Yeah, something like that,” you muttered, trying to shake off the lingering heat in your cheeks.
Wonbin didn’t press, simply walking beside you and chatting about something light—camp rumors, training schedules, the usual.
--
Ni-ki watched as you walked away, dragging Wonbin by the arm, your laughter drifting faintly on the breeze. It wasn’t loud or directed at him, but it still gnawed at him in a way that made his jaw clench.
Something primal and possessive stirred deep in his chest, demanding he act—run after you, grab your wrist, pull you away from Wonbin, from anyone, and keep you hidden where only he could reach you. The thought sent a dangerous thrill through him. He could do it. He had the power, the determination, the will.
But no. Not yet.
He leaned back against the tree, biting into the apple in his hand to mask the frustration clawing its way to the surface. His dark eyes stayed fixed on your retreating form, lingering on the way your head tilted toward Wonbin as if he deserved your attention, as if he could actually be worth something to you.
The thought was laughable.
Wonbin was nothing. Just another pretty face with a bow in hand. He didn’t know you—not the way Ni-ki did, not the way Ni-ki could. Wonbin didn’t see the sharp wit hidden behind your hesitance, the way your eyes lit up with determination when you put your mind to something, or the rare, fleeting smiles you gave when you thought no one was looking.
Ni-ki saw all of it. He memorized every moment, every word, every glance you spared him, even if it was in irritation. And the more he saw, the more he needed.
No, Wonbin couldn’t make you happy. Not the way Ni-ki could.
Ni-ki’s grip tightened on the apple, the fruit cracking under the pressure of his fingers. He’d go to the Underworld and back for you—literally, if it came to that. It was his realm, after all. His father may have warned him against becoming attached to others, especially demigods, but Ni-ki didn’t care. Whether it was love or infatuation didn’t matter. All he knew was that you belonged to him, and one day, you’d realize it too.
You just needed… a little push.
Ni-ki’s lips curved into a slow, dark smile as he took another bite of the apple, his gaze never leaving the direction you’d gone.
He could wait. He was patient, after all.
But he’d make sure you saw it soon enough. That he was better than any other guy in camp, better than Wonbin, better than anyone who thought they could have a place in your life.
And when that moment came, when you finally saw him for what he truly was—yours—there wouldn’t be anything or anyone that could take you away from him.
Ni-ki stayed by the tree long after you disappeared from view, his fingers idly turning the half-eaten apple over in his hand. His mind raced with thoughts of you, each one tightening the knot of desire and obsession in his chest.
He could picture it so clearly—the moment when you’d finally stop running from him, stop looking at him like he was some bothersome shadow in your life. One day, you’d see him as he saw you. One day, you’d understand that no one else could ever care for you, protect you, love you the way he could.
He exhaled slowly, forcing himself to relax. There was no need to rush. The more you resisted him now, the more satisfying it would be when you eventually gave in.
Ni-ki tilted his head to the side, his dark eyes glinting with quiet determination. He knew what he needed to do.
First, he’d let you play your little game—ignoring him, giving your attention to others like Wonbin. It was amusing in its own way, watching you try to distance yourself from him, as if that would somehow change the pull between you.
Then, when the time was right, he’d push. Not too hard, not enough to scare you, but just enough to remind you who was really worth your time.
And finally? He’d make sure you understood that he wasn’t going anywhere.
It wasn’t just about winning you over. It was about showing you what you were missing—what life with him could be like. He’d keep you safe from everything and everyone that didn’t deserve you, even if that meant disobeying his father to ensure it.
Ni-ki straightened up, tossing the apple core to the ground as a small smirk tugged at his lips.
This wasn’t just about patience anymore. This was about strategy—something his own father had taught him well.
“Enjoy your little moments with Wonbin,” he murmured under his breath, the faintest trace of amusement lacing his voice. “It won’t matter in the end.”
With that, he turned and strode away from the tree, his mind already working on his next move.
You could try to ignore him. You could even try to hate him.
But it didn’t matter. Not to Ni-ki.
He’d seen the way your eyes lingered on him for a fraction too long when you thought he wasn’t paying attention. The way you always seemed to know exactly where he was, even when you claimed you didn’t care. You could tell yourself that you didn’t feel the pull between you, that his presence didn’t affect you, but Ni-ki knew better.
He always knew better.
He didn’t care how long it took, or how many distractions you tried to throw his way—Wonbin included. None of it mattered.
In the end, you’d come to him. You’d have to.
Because Ni-ki wasn’t the kind of person to lose, especially not when it came to something he wanted.
And he wanted you.
--
You were doomed—completely and utterly doomed—from the moment you were born. Your life would’ve been so much easier if your father had just fallen for a regular mortal instead of a literal Greek goddess. You could’ve gone through life oblivious to this whole other world of gods, monsters, and irritatingly attractive demigods. But no. Instead, he had to send you here, to this camp.
And because of that, you got to know Ni-ki.
You tried sticking by Wonbin. He was fun, charming, and easy to be around. He didn’t make your blood boil with irritation or tie your thoughts into knots that you couldn’t untangle, and you appreciated that. You told yourself that staying close to him was the best way to avoid the storm that was Ni-ki.
But it was no use.
No matter where you went, no matter what you did, Ni-ki was always there, lingering on the edges of your mind if not right in front of you. He wasn’t like Wonbin—he didn’t make small talk or try to keep the peace. Ni-ki thrived on chaos, on teasing you, testing you, pushing every button you had until you didn’t know whether you wanted to yell at him or… something else.
It was maddening, frustrating, exhausting.
You caught yourself looking for him more often than you cared to admit, your eyes darting around camp during training sessions or meals. Even when he wasn’t near, you could feel the weight of his presence, like a shadow always lurking just behind you. And when you did see him? The infuriating smirk on his face made your heart race in a way that left you cursing under your breath.
You sighed as you sat by the campfire that evening, staring into the flickering flames. Wonbin was beside you, laughing and chatting with a group of other campers, but his voice faded into the background. Your thoughts were elsewhere—on the dark-haired boy who had somehow managed to weave himself into every corner of your life without your permission.
“Why do you look like you’re plotting murder?” Wonbin asked suddenly, breaking you out of your thoughts.
You blinked, turning to look at him. “Huh?”
“You’re glaring at the fire like it insulted your family or something,” he teased, nudging your shoulder.
You forced a laugh, shaking your head. “It’s nothing. Just thinking.”
He raised an eyebrow but didn’t push further, thankfully.
Still, your mind refused to settle. You were doomed, all right. Doomed because no matter how hard you tried to ignore Ni-ki, some part of you always ended up being pulled back to him. Like gravity.
And the worst part?
A small, treacherous voice in the back of your mind whispered that maybe you didn’t want to fight it as much as you pretended to.
In fact, it was growing louder with every interaction, every smirk, every time Ni-ki’s dark eyes locked with yours like he could see straight through you. It was infuriating. It was maddening. But it was also… impossible to ignore.
You tried to shake it off, focusing on anything else—Wonbin’s jokes, the camp’s bustling energy, even the endless stream of chores and training drills. But none of it worked. No matter what you did, Ni-ki was there, lingering at the edge of your thoughts like a shadow you couldn’t escape.
You hated it. You hated how much space he took up in your head, how his teasing smirk and smooth voice haunted you even when he wasn’t around.
But what you hated most of all?
The way your heart raced when he was around.
You let out a frustrated sigh, leaning back against the log by the campfire. The flames danced in front of you, but their warmth didn’t do much to ease the chill of confusion and frustration that settled in your chest.
You stood up abruptly, brushing the dirt off your hands. “I’m going to bed,” you mumbled, not really looking at anyone.
Wonbin glanced at you, concerned, but he didn’t say anything as you turned and headed toward the Athena cabin. The night air was cool against your skin, a sharp contrast to the warmth of the fire. You welcomed it, hoping it might clear your head.
When you pushed open the door to the cabin, you were surprised to find it empty. Normally, your half-sisters were gathered around, quietly reading.
You didn’t think too much about it as you made your way to your bed. Sitting down heavily, you groaned, letting your body relax for the first time all day. The mattress creaked under your weight, and you leaned back, staring up at the wooden ceiling.
Your mind, of course, wouldn’t quiet.
Ni-ki’s face flashed in your thoughts—his smirk, his sharp gaze, the way he always seemed so calm and in control, as if he knew exactly how to get under your skin. You groaned again, pressing the heels of your palms against your eyes in frustration.
“What is wrong with me?” you muttered to yourself.
This wasn’t like you. You didn’t let people get to you like this, especially not guys like Ni-ki. He was aggravating, arrogant, and far too sure of himself.
And yet.
Your thoughts drifted back to the moments when his teasing tone softened just slightly, or the way his presence seemed to shift when it was just the two of you. It made your chest tighten in a way you didn’t want to admit.
You sat up abruptly, shaking your head as if that would somehow shake the thoughts loose. “No,” you said firmly, as if declaring it out loud would make it true. “I’m not doing this.”
The next day, you were in the middle of a match, your shield raised and your sword slicing through the air as you managed to disarm your opponent with a clean move. Breathing heavily, you stepped back and lowered your weapon, a small grin tugging at your lips.
Straightening up, you turned to face the group. “Alright,” you said, brushing a hand across your brow. “Who’s next?”
The crowd shifted slightly, and then you saw him.
Ni-ki, standing at the edge of the group, his hand raised lazily as that infuriating smirk spread across his face.
Your stomach sank.
“Me,” he said simply, stepping forward with a casual confidence that made you grit your teeth.
He unsheathed his sword, the metal glinting in the sunlight as he spun it once in his hand, almost lazily. “Don’t look so excited to see me,” he teased, his voice low and taunting.
You groaned audibly, earning a few chuckles from the others watching. “Of course it’s you,” you muttered under your breath, gripping your sword tightly.
Ni-ki’s grin widened as he stopped a few feet in front of you, his posture relaxed, but his eyes sharp. “Ready to show me what you’ve got?”
“Don’t you have anyone else to fight?” you shot back, raising your shield and positioning your sword defensively.
He tilted his head, pretending to think. “Nope,” he said with mock cheerfulness. “You’re my favorite target.”
You rolled your eyes, but before you could fire off another retort, Ni-ki lunged. His sword came down fast, and you barely managed to block it with your shield. The force of the blow made your arm ache, but you quickly recovered, stepping to the side and swinging your sword toward him.
Ni-ki parried with ease, his movements fluid and almost effortless. “Not bad,” he said, circling you slowly. “You’ve been practicing.”
“Shut up and fight,” you snapped, aiming a quick thrust toward his side.
He dodged it easily, his smirk never faltering. “Feisty,” he teased, blocking your next strike with his sword. “I like it.”
You groaned in frustration, your swings becoming more aggressive as Ni-ki continued to block and dodge with maddening ease. He wasn’t even trying to land a hit yet—just toying with you, testing you, like a cat playing with its prey.
“Stop holding back!” you shouted, lunging forward with all your strength.
Ni-ki’s eyes flashed, and for a split second, his smirk turned into something more serious. He sidestepped your attack and, with a quick flick of his wrist, knocked your sword out of your hand.
Before you could react, he stepped closer, the tip of his blade resting lightly against your collarbone.
“Looks like I win,” he said softly, his voice low enough that only you could hear. His eyes locked with yours, and for a moment, the world around you seemed to fade away.
Your heart pounded, but whether it was from the fight or the way Ni-ki was looking at you, you couldn’t tell.
“Maybe next time,” he added, stepping back and lowering his sword.
You glared at him, your cheeks burning with a mix of frustration and something you didn’t want to name. “Don’t get used to it,” you muttered, bending down to pick up your weapon.
Ni-ki just chuckled, spinning his sword once before sheathing it. “I’m counting on it.”
--
The day had been long, exhausting even, but despite the ache in your muscles and the overwhelming need for rest, sleep refused to come. You lay in bed, staring at the wooden ceiling of the Athena cabin, your mind swirling with thoughts you couldn’t seem to shut off.
The cabin was quiet, the soft snores of your half-sisters filling the space. You should’ve felt comforted by the familiar surroundings, but instead, you felt restless. Like there was something pulling at you, demanding your attention.
With a frustrated sigh, you sat up, swinging your legs over the side of the bed. Maybe some fresh air would help clear your mind. You grabbed a light jacket and slipped out of the cabin as quietly as you could.
The camp was quieter now, most of the other demigods asleep, save for a few shadows moving by the campfire in the distance. You tugged your jacket closer around you and glanced up at the night sky.
The stars twinkled faintly above, scattered across the inky black canvas. You let out a soft sigh, your breath visible in the chill. “If you’re listening, Mom,” you murmured, tilting your head upward, “a little guidance would be nice right about now.”
Of course, there was no response. You didn’t expect one. Still, the act of asking felt oddly comforting, like maybe she was watching, even if she couldn’t answer.
You shook your head, trying to dispel the lingering frustration and confusion from your thoughts. Wandering through camp aimlessly wouldn’t help. You needed to do something. Anything.
Your gaze landed on the training grounds nearby. Rows of weapons were neatly arranged on the racks for the next day’s use, and your hand instinctively reached for a sword. It wasn’t the same one you had used earlier during training, but it felt good in your grip nonetheless.
Without a second thought, you made your way to a clearing a little farther from the cabins, away from prying eyes and the ever-present chatter of the other campers.
You adjusted your stance, gripping the sword tightly as you took a deep breath. Then you started practicing.
It was awkward at first—your swings too wide, your footing unsteady. But you didn’t stop. You moved through the motions you’d been taught, the echoes of Wonbin’s voice guiding you. The weight of the sword felt familiar in your hands now, and the repetition of each movement slowly began to calm your racing thoughts.
Slash. Step. Block. Pivot.
Each strike and parry chipped away at your frustration, leaving behind a faint sense of satisfaction. The rhythmic movements grounded you, a reminder that maybe, just maybe, you weren’t as out of place here as you felt.
The clearing was quiet except for the sound of your blade slicing through the air and the occasional rustle of leaves. The stars above seemed to glow a little brighter, as if approving of your effort.
But then, a soft sound broke through your focusa quiet crunch of leaves behind you.
You froze mid-swing, your heart skipping a beat as you turned around sharply, sword raised defensively.
There, leaning casually against a tree, was Ni-ki. His dark eyes reflected the moonlight, and his ever-present smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
“Practicing alone?” he drawled, his voice low and teasing. “Didn’t think you’d be the type.”
You groaned, rolling your eyes as you turned back around. “Don’t you have something else to do?” you muttered, raising your sword to continue your practice.
The satisfying swoosh of the blade cutting through the air was short-lived, though, as another crunch of leaves sounded—closer this time.
You stiffened, the hairs on the back of your neck standing up. Slowly, you turned back around, only to find Ni-ki standing much, much closer than before.
Too close.
You instinctively stepped back, gripping the hilt of your sword tighter. “What are you doing?” you demanded, your voice sharper than you intended.
Ni-ki didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he unsheathed his sword in one smooth motion, the blade catching the faint glow of the moonlight.
Without a word, his sword clashed against yours, the force of it sending a jolt up your arm.
“Training,” he said simply, his voice calm and deliberate.
Your breaths came faster as you struggled to hold your ground. His strength was undeniable, and the weight of his blade pressed hard against yours.
“You could’ve warned me,” you bit out, gritting your teeth as you pushed back against him.
“Where’s the fun in that?” Ni-ki replied smoothly, tilting his head as he studied you.
You narrowed your eyes, trying to focus on his movements as he pulled back slightly before swinging again. You barely managed to block the strike, the clash of metal ringing loudly in the quiet night.
“Stop holding back,” he said, his voice low and almost taunting. “Or are you scared?”
“I’m not scared,” you snapped, stepping forward to swing at him, only for him to parry your attack effortlessly.
“Could’ve fooled me,” he teased, his smirk growing wider.
Your frustration bubbled over as you struck again, this time with more force. Ni-ki blocked it easily, but instead of countering, he let his sword linger against yours, his face mere inches from yours now.
“See?” he murmured, his tone soft but no less infuriating. “You’re getting better already.”
His closeness made your heart race, and you hated that you couldn’t tell if it was from irritation or something else entirely. You pushed his sword away with a sharp motion and stepped back, glaring at him.
“Why are you even doing this?” you demanded, lowering your sword slightly.
Ni-ki tilted his head, his smirk fading just a fraction. For a moment, you thought he might actually answer seriously.
But then his lips curved again, and he stepped forward, his blade tapping lightly against yours.
“Because,” he said, his voice dropping into a near-whisper as he leaned in closer, “I like seeing you fight back.”
That was it. That little smirk, the taunting lilt in his voice—it was enough to light a fire under you. If he wanted a fight, you weren’t going to back down.
“Fine,” you snapped, gripping your sword tighter as you took a step forward. “Let’s see if you can handle it.”
Ni-ki’s grin widened, his dark eyes gleaming with excitement. “That’s more like it.”
He struck first, his movements sharp and calculated, but this time you were ready. You blocked his attack and retaliated quickly, your blade swinging toward him in a controlled arc. He parried with ease, the metallic clang of your swords echoing through the clearing.
The fight intensified, your strikes becoming faster, more precise. Ni-ki moved like a shadow, fluid and unpredictable, but you weren’t as easy to throw off now.
“You’re learning,” he said, his voice steady even as he blocked another one of your attacks. “But you’re still predictable.”
“Shut up,” you shot back, using your shield to deflect his next swing and stepping closer to try and land a blow. He sidestepped easily, his laughter low and infuriating.
“That temper of yours is going to get you in trouble,” he teased, but there was something almost approving in his tone.
You didn’t bother replying this time, focusing instead on matching his movements. You swung again, your blade aimed for his side, and for the first time, you saw the faintest flicker of surprise in his eyes as he blocked you just a fraction too late.
Your sword glanced off his armor, the impact making him take a half-step back.
“Not bad,” Ni-ki admitted, his smirk returning as he circled you. “You’re starting to make this interesting.”
The praise caught you off guard, and you couldn’t help the slight swell of pride that followed. But you didn’t let it distract you.
“Better than you expected, huh?” you said, unable to resist the jab as you pivoted to keep him in your line of sight.
Ni-ki’s grin turned sharp. “Don’t get cocky.”
He lunged suddenly, his movements faster and more aggressive. You barely managed to block him, your arms straining as he pressed his weight against your blade.
For a moment, you were locked together, his face inches from yours. His dark eyes bore into you, filled with an intensity that made your breath hitch.
“You’re enjoying this,” he said softly, his voice teasing but laced with something deeper.
You didn’t deny it. Somehow, in the midst of the fight, you’d forgotten about your frustration, your doubts, even your irritation with him. All that mattered now was holding your ground against someone as skilled as Ni-ki.
“Maybe I am,” you admitted, a small smirk tugging at your lips.
Ni-ki blinked, momentarily caught off guard when your sudden, unexpected move knocked the sword clean out of his hand. The blade clattered to the ground a few feet away, and you straightened, your smirk growing wider as you stared at him triumphantly.
“Didn’t see that coming, did you?” you teased, the satisfaction in your voice clear.
For once, Ni-ki seemed genuinely surprised, his dark eyes flicking to the fallen sword before locking back onto you. “I’ll admit,” he said slowly, a hint of amusement coloring his tone, “that was clever.”
You were about to bask in your victory, perhaps even throw another jab his way, but before you could, Ni-ki’s leg swept out suddenly, catching you off guard.
Your balance gave way, and you stumbled backward, ready to hit the ground hard—except you didn’t.
In a flash, Ni-ki’s arm shot out, wrapping securely around your waist and pulling you back up against him. The world tilted for a moment, and when you opened your eyes, you realized how close you were.
Your noses brushed lightly, and his face was only inches from yours. His dark eyes bore into yours, filled with that maddening confidence and something else that made your breath hitch.
“You should never celebrate too early,” he murmured, his voice low and teasing.
Your mind scrambled to process what was happening. His arm was still wrapped firmly around your waist, his other hand pressed lightly against the small of your back. You could feel the warmth radiating off him, the way his chest rose and fell with each steady breath.
You should’ve said something—anything. A snarky comeback, maybe, or even a protest about his unfair tactics. But instead, all you could do was stare at him, your heart pounding so loud you were sure he could hear it.
Ni-ki tilted his head slightly, his smirk softening into something more curious. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice dropping to a whisper.
That snapped you out of it, and you quickly shoved at his chest. “Let go of me,” you muttered, trying to sound annoyed despite the heat rising to your cheeks.
He chuckled but released you, stepping back just enough to give you space. His hand lingered for the briefest second before he let it fall to his side.
“Nice move, though,” he said, his tone almost genuine—almost. “But you’ll have to do better if you want to beat me.”
You scowled at him, trying to regain some semblance of dignity. “I did beat you. I knocked your sword out of your hand!”
“And yet,” Ni-ki said, bending down to retrieve his sword and twirling it effortlessly, “I still had the upper hand.”
You clenched your jaw, watching him looking too pleased with himself. The smugness on his face only made your frustration burn brighter.
“I don’t know how you can be so damn confident when you just got outplayed,” you muttered, crossing your arms over your chest, trying to hide the fact that your heart was still racing.
Ni-ki chuckled, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “Outplayed, huh?” He took a step closer, still twirling his sword. “You’re getting better, I’ll give you that. But you’re not there yet.”
“You’re a cocky bastard, you know that?”
“I’m not cocky,” he said, the teasing tone never leaving his voice. “I’m just confident. And you’ll get used to it... if you’re smart.”
You raised an eyebrow, not backing down an inch. “Smart, huh?”
Ni-ki leaned in slightly, lowering his voice in a way that made your breath hitch again. “Yeah. Smart enough to realize that you’re not going to get rid of me that easily.”
“I never wanted to get rid of you,” you snapped, trying to regain your composure. “I just wanted to be left alone.”
Ni-ki took another step closer, and this time, you didn’t pull away. His presence was overwhelming—like he could consume you entirely if you let him. “You say that, but we both know that’s not true.” His lips curled into a smile as he tilted his head slightly. “You wouldn’t keep coming back to me if you didn’t want something.”
Your mouth went dry, and for a second, you forgot how to breathe. What was he getting at? Why was he suddenly so... intense? You didn’t know if it was the way he was looking at you or how close he was, but you felt something shift between you, something that made it harder to focus.
Before you could respond, Ni-ki backed away just enough to give you some space, but not before his gaze lingered on you with an unreadable expression. “You’ll figure it out eventually,” he said softly, almost like a challenge. “But for now, don’t forget—I'm always watching.”
He turned and walked off, leaving you standing there, breathless, a mix of anger and confusion swirling inside you. You opened your mouth to say something, but no words came out.
What the hell was that?
Over the next few days, something between you and Ni-ki shifted. It wasn’t immediately obvious, but it was there, lingering.
At first, it was subtle. A glance that lingered just a second too long, a playful comment that felt just a little more personal than it used to be. He still teased you, still pushed your buttons the way only he could, but there was a new layer to it. Every time he sparred with you, there was something in his eyes—something that made your heart beat faster, something that made you feel like he was seeing right through you.
It was hard to tell whether you were imagining it, but you felt it, that strange connection you couldn’t shake. It wasn’t just the usual back-and-forth banter, the constant friction. No, this time, there was something deeper. Something charged. You found yourself waiting for his gaze across the training grounds, your stomach tightening whenever he’d casually stroll past you, like he was waiting for you to say something, anything.
One afternoon, you found yourself in the training yard again, sword in hand, working through some drills. You were trying to focus, trying to shut everything else out, but there he was—Ni-ki, watching you from the edge of the field, leaning casually against a tree. You tried to ignore him, but every few seconds, your eyes would wander over to him, and you’d catch him staring right back.
Finally, he pushed off from the tree and walked over. “You know,” he said, his voice drawing your attention even before he was close enough to speak, “you’ve gotten better. I’m impressed.”
You narrowed your eyes, trying to keep your composure. “Don’t get used to it,” you shot back, though the words came out more lightly than you’d intended.
Ni-ki smirked, his usual arrogance taking over. “Oh, I’m not. But you’re not as bad as I thought you’d be.”
You felt the familiar spark of irritation flare up. “And here I thought you might actually give me a compliment.”
“You really want one from me?” he teased, his voice lowering just slightly. It was almost like a challenge, but there was something else in his tone—something that made you pause.
You crossed your arms, forcing yourself to act unaffected. “What’s it going to take for you to just leave me alone?”
He took a step closer, that teasing smile still tugging at his lips. “You know, I don’t think I can do that.”
You didn’t know why, but you found yourself holding his gaze longer than usual. You were still mad at him for everything, for the way he always seemed to be in your face when you least wanted him to be. But there was also a strange pull, a curiosity that gnawed at you. You didn’t want to admit it, but you were starting to care about the things he said, about the way he looked at you.
You cleared your throat, breaking the moment. “Don’t get too cocky, Ni-ki. I’m not interested.”
He chuckled softly, a knowing glint in his eyes. “Maybe you’re not. But I don’t think you can ignore me forever.”
You took a step back, your heart pounding as you tried to collect yourself, but Ni-ki’s presence was magnetic, pulling you in with an intensity you couldn't fight.
"You're not as good at pretending as you think," he said, his tone a challenge, but there was something softer in it this time.
You clenched your jaw, irritated with yourself for letting him get under your skin. "I'm not pretending," you snapped, your words sharper than you intended. "And I’m definitely not the one who’s making this complicated."
His lips curved into a smile, and he moved just a little bit closer, his gaze intense, unwavering. "You always make things more complicated than they need to be," he said, almost like a confession, like he was admitting something without saying it outright.
You opened your mouth to respond, but the words caught in your throat. What could you even say? What was there to say when everything between you and him felt so tangled?
Ni-ki took a step forward, not giving you a chance to speak. "I know you feel it too," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "You can’t keep pretending like you don’t want this."
Your breath hitched at his words, your chest tightening. You wanted to push him away, to tell him off like you always did, but this time, the thought didn’t come. Instead, you stood there, frozen, staring into his eyes, realizing that he was right. You couldn’t keep pretending, couldn’t keep pretending like it didn’t affect you, like his teasing and his relentless pursuit didn’t make something inside you stir.
A small, dangerous part of you wanted to give in, to let yourself feel whatever this was between you. But you couldn’t—could you? You weren’t sure what this was, what you were supposed to do with it.
Ni-ki took another step closer, and you found yourself backing up slightly, your heels hitting the soft earth beneath you. "You’re scared," he said, his voice softer now, like a quiet understanding. "But I won’t bite, not unless you want me to."
His words made your stomach twist, the light touch of a dare in his voice, a challenge you couldn’t quite ignore. You felt your pulse quicken, every nerve in your body alert, wanting to resist him, but at the same time, craving what he was offering, whatever that might be.
So why not act on it?
Your heart pounded in your chest as you acted on impulse, unable to resist the magnetic pull any longer. Before you could second-guess yourself, you reached up and grabbed his shirt, pulling him toward you. The suddenness of it caught him off guard, and for a split second, he froze, eyes wide in disbelief.
But then, almost as if a switch had been flipped, Ni-ki closed the distance between you, his hands finding your cheeks as he kissed you back. His lips were hungry, as if he had been waiting for this moment, and the intensity of his kiss made your head spin. You could feel the heat of his touch, the way his fingers slid through your hair, tugging you closer, as if trying to pull you into him.
Your mind was a blur, every thought drowned out by the sensation of him—his scent, the taste of his lips, the urgency that seemed to pulse between you both. It felt like something had shifted, like everything else had faded away, leaving only this moment, only him.
His hands were gentle but firm, holding your face as he deepened the kiss, his body pressing closer to yours.
When he finally pulled back, both of you were breathing heavily, the air between you thick with unspoken words. Ni-ki’s eyes were dark with something intense, something more than just the teasing that had always been there before. He stared at you for a moment, his fingers still lingering on your face as if he were trying to make sense of what had just happened.
“You…” He trailed off. “That’s one way to get my attention.”
You swallowed, your pulse still racing, but now with a new, more dangerous energy. “Maybe I just wanted to see if you’d actually kiss me back,” you whispered, a smile tugging at your lips despite yourself.
Ni-ki chuckled, like he was both impressed and thrilled.
"You’re dangerous," you murmured, the words slipping out before you could stop them, not sure if you meant him or the situation.
Ni-ki smirked, leaning even closer, his lips brushing against your ear. "And you love it," he whispered, his voice sending a ripple of heat through your entire body.
You didn’t deny it. In fact, you didn’t have to.
"I’m not sure this is a good idea," you admitted instead, but there was a part of you that wasn’t sure if you were still trying to convince yourself or him.
Ni-ki’s grin grew wider, and he traced his thumb across your lips, almost teasing. "Good ideas are overrated," he said, his tone playful. "Besides, I’ve never been one to shy away from a little chaos."
You pulled back slightly, your breath catching as you tried to regain some semblance of control. "Our parents wouldn’t like this," you said, the words slipping out before you could stop them.
Ni-ki's grin never faltered, and his eyes gleamed with mischief. "I never listened to my father," he said, the words casual, but you could hear the underlying truth in them. "And your mother? She has so many children to worry about. What’s one more mess to clean up?" He chuckled, the sound almost a challenge, as if daring you to argue with him.
Every logical thought you had was drowned out by his presence. You should have pulled away. You should have stopped this before it went any further.
But then Ni-ki was closer, so close that you could feel his breath on your skin, and all those thoughts faded into the background. You let him take that final step, let him kiss you again, as if the world outside didn’t exist.
His lips were urgent, almost demanding, and you found yourself responding, giving in to the pull.
He had won. There was no turning back now.

you guys, its been too long. I said I was going to post something last week and genuinely just got distracted ;-; but here is a cute little story between george x reader, I just finished Ginny & Georgia and I was a little inspired by season 3..minus murder hahaha, enjoy xoxo
George gets a call in the middle of the night only to find out his girlfriend has gotten into a bit of trouble, but ofc nobody is mad here, just cute fluff <3
word count: 530+
💟—————————————————————————💟
The call came at 2:46 am. George groaned, blindly reaching for his buzzing phone, knocking over a water bottle in the process. Who would call this late?
Talia.
He blinked blearily and answered. “George, hey. I’m sorry to call, but… it’s Y/N.” His body immediately tensed. “What happened?”
“She got into a bit of trouble. It’s not serious, but…” A pause. “She was drinking a lot. We tried to stop her, Gee and I. but Y/N just kind of… spiralled. And she got into it with security outside the club.” George was already sitting up, grabbing his keys. “Where is she?” Talia sighed from the other side of the line. “She’s at the police station near the club” George’s face dropped “Oh fuck, okay. Thank you, Talia” George hung up the phone and rushed out the door.
By the time he arrived at the station, the sick feeling in his stomach hadn’t gone away. Y/N wasn’t the type to act out, at least not like this. She was the glue, the peacemaker, the one who calmed him down when he was too loud or too reckless.
Seeing her sitting in the dim holding room, head down, hoodie pulled tight over their face, it twisted his stomach.
The officer gave him a look. “You George?” He nodded. “Yes Officer…?” “Kingston” replied the officer, pointing towards the paperwork that was yet to be signed. George acknowledged his patience and thanked the officer.
“She didn’t resist. Just emotional. Kept apologizing for breathing too loud, like they were trying to disappear into the floor.” The officer softened. “She’s lucky her friends stayed close. Could’ve gone a different way.” George nodded again, jaw tight.
“Hey,” he said quietly when they let him in. Y/N looked up. Her eyes were red, cheeks blotchy, makeup smudged like shadows beneath their eyes. “I’m so stupid,” Y/N whispered.
“No, you’re not.”
“I couldn’t stop crying. I don’t even know why. It just hit me out of nowhere. I didn’t mean to mess everything up.” George crouched in front of her. “You didn’t mess anything up. You broke down. That’s not the same thing.”
Y/N blinked rapidly. “Everyone thinks I’m the one who has it all together. But lately I feel like I’m one loose thread away from unravelling.” George didn’t speak. Just reached for her hands, wrapping his fingers around hers. “I didn’t even want to go out tonight,” Y/N admitted, voice cracking. “But I didn’t want to be alone either.”
“You should’ve told me” He said softly. “I would’ve sat on the floor with you and eaten cold noodles and listened to whatever sad playlist you had on repeat.” Y/N let out a shaky laugh, wiping her eyes with her dirty sleeve. “Here darling, let me help you.” George reached to Y/N’s face
“I’m sorry,” they murmured again. “You shouldn’t have to come rescue me.”
“I would do it every damn time,” George said. “No questions asked.”
They were quiet again, and then Y/N asked, “Do you think I’m broken?” George’s heart clenched. “No,” he said firmly. “I think you’re human. And I think you’ve been holding too much alone for too long.”
He stood and helped them up.
“Let’s get you home.”

SO DIM THAT SPOTLIGHT…
for, M— maisie, or maybe even miya osamu; my twin, my superstar, and my biggest blessing.
Tumblr media
inarizaki doesn’t need memories, nor do they need to rely on their team manager; everything that matters happens in the court anyways. but, the week you’ve disappeared from practice— they can’t help but find themselves missing you.
fem!reader, atsumu kinda clingy, writeen on 0 hours of sleep, sum1 MIGHT be ooc… AESPA FANS RISE
Tumblr media
inarizaki doesn’t need their team manager. they’re very adamant on their independence, especially atsumu. sure, it’s nice to be coddled after a long day of volleyball, but it’s merely a bonus! they don’t rely on you, definitely…
“where’s s/o?” atsumu frowns, looking across the gym for you. “coach said she had a family emergency…” kita says, a hint of worry in his voice. osamu tilted his head in worry. “family emergency? is something wrong?”
kita sighs. “coach didn’t give any further details.” to this, atsumu whined. “whaat?! is she okay?!” he yelled out, going on a path that goes nowhere. “he just said he didn’t get any further details…” suna deadpans.
“well, we shouldn’t dwell on it right now. next week is the inarizaki winter festival… we’ve been instructed to create a promotional video with our most flashy moves as to get more people to support us during nationals.” kita explains.
atsumu rolls his eyes, hearing what a ridiculous idea it was. “setting up a video… we already have a crowd full of fans… we should be practicing…” he mumbles, not that anyone in particular cares to comment on.
“right… well, i think we should shoot atsumu’s shots first since he’s is the most popular after all” kita says, preparing the camera while ginjima had set up the tripod. “just… do a strong spike serve, okay?” he instructs as atsumu bounces the ball, preparing for his shot.
atsumu takes a deep breath, preparing for his shot; the look on his face so serious, you’d think he was in an official match. he throws the ball into the air…
before miserably missing the shot.
the silence in the gym so thick, you could cut it with a knife. until osamu broke the tension with roaring laughter. “hah! what happened to being so perfect all the time?!” osamu points at him, laughing like a middle school bully. “shut your trap! i was just thinking ‘bout somethin’!” atsumu yells back, angrily marching to retrieve his ball. “thinkin’ bout what?! about how ‘ya can’t even serve properly cause your dear s/o is gone?!” osamu scoffs, not particularly set on admitting how much he’ll miss your presence this week. still, he doesn’t have much time to think about that before atsumu steers straight into osamu’s path. “you..!” atsumu huffs, grabbing osamu by his shirt collar and wrestling him.
omimi runs in between the two of them, trying to break the fight as suna records the two, turning to kita. “maybe this’ll make good promotional content, everyone loves to see these two fight...” and in response, kita can only sigh at suna’s nonchalant attitude, pressing a palm to both of the boys’ chests. “fighting won’t do anything. stop it, please.” he says, unknowingly placing a somewhat hostile tone in his words, scaring the twins into backing off of each other.
Tumblr media
despite whatever complaints the team had, the week passed by fairly quickly and soon enough, it was the inarizaki winter festival. there were snack carts, game booths, and of course, on one of the main screens, starred the boy’s volleyball team promotional video. and, exactly as kita said, it persuaded many girls to come support the team by the time nationals starts.
as the miyas inattentively chatted with the girls carrying fans with their names on it, both their eyes roamed the festival for an excuse to leave— when the stage announced a name they were all too familiar with.
“when is s/o returning? it’s already been a week, and she hasn’t returned, much less answer any of our calls…” kita asks, clearly worried for your wellbeing. coach kurosu can’t help but let out a slight smile, waving off the boy’s concerns. “she’s fine. in fact…” he trails off, turning to the stage.
confused, kita furrows his brow, and follows his gaze as to what he could mean.
“and, without further ado..! s/o from class 3-4, performing a solo cover of supernova by aespa!”
even from how scattered they were across the fair, they all froze, looking for each other as if to silently ask ‘is this real..?’. the lights slowly flashed onto you, as you sang the lyrics in what they could only think would be recognizable korean. hell, even if it was absolute nonsense, you’d still sound amazing.
your distinct and sharp dance moves were complimented by the cropped black tee and the baggy jeans you wore, making you look absolutely graceful as you danced. even the very fact that you were able to wear those kinds of clothes in the middle of december was commendable enough.
sparklers popped from the edges of the stage, as if you were at your very own solo concert, the lights dimmed to from white, to purple, to blue, as confetti streamed down. and when it came to an end, the audience roared in cheer.
you waved to everyone and bowed respectfully before running off the stage. the entire team was more than shocked to see that, ‘family emergency’, as if! almost every single one of then dropped what they had been previously doing and ran to the back of the stage, ready to praise you.
“s/o, that was incredible!” atsumu yelled, giving you a big hug before yelling at you. “why’dya leave us for a week?!” he huffed. “ahaha… practice, of course! coach had to cover for me…” you giggled, shivering a bit from how cold the snow was. “you… don’t wear revealing clothes in winter, you’ll catch a cold…” osamu sighed, wrapping his tracksuit around you.
kita went over to you, observing your condition. “i’m glad you’re well, s/o. i was starting to get worried when you wouldn’t answer our calls. your performance was amazing.” he smiled. aran agreed, greeting you with a soft slap on your back. “you did great! the way you did this..! and then suddenly you..!” he fumbles, imitating your dance moves.
it seems he’s exhilarated just by watching you perform…
and finally, suna makes it over to the backstage, giving you a thumbs up and a smile. “you did great. i only recorded halfway…” he says disappointedly, looking over the clip he took. “pfft, that’s okay, suna…” you shrug. “i’m really glad to be back with you guys, though” you smile contentedly.
aran glared at you as if you dishonored his family, “what are you even talking about?! with moves like that, you shouldn’t be stuck being a volleyball team manager; you’ve gotta become an idol! in front of millions!” he encourages you, before atsumu argues back. “haah?! like hell! she’s gotta stay here with us!”
“it’s her life, she should have control over what she does in life.” kita says, in an attempt to mediate. sadly, his attempt falls on deaf ears as the two argue like a married couple bickering on their child’s future.
you laugh, missing the chaos in your life. “hahah… i don’t think i’m gonna perform again anytime soon… it was terrifying, not to mention— so much effort. for now, i guess i’m stuck here with you guys…”
that wouldn’t be a problem though. not when it’s you.
inarizaki doesn’t need the memories. cherishing the present is much better anyways. but, maybe it is pretty nice to have a team manager. especially when they’re as talented as you.

“Recognized. Huntress 1-7.” You heard the computer system speak as you stepped out of the zeta tube into the Justice League’s real headquarters, The Watchtower. You were not dressed in your suit or gear, just dressed in civilian clothing, a pair of denim shorts, black tank top, black hoodie, and an old beat up pair of high tops, after all you did not really fear like getting all suited up to just deliver the rest of the Justice League bad news. No one was waiting for you at the entryway, you could even hear the sounds of conversation from the conference room, and you gritted your teeth when you realized they did not even wait for you. You groaned, shaking your head as you walked over to the conference room, pressing the button by the door and letting it slide open, and the room fell silent as you stepped inside, all heads turning to look at you.
“Ah, Huntress, sorry for starting without you, but-“
“Save it, Boy Scout.” You cut off Superman as he smiled at you as he started to stand up to greet you, but at your harsh words, he just stopped in his tracks. You walked over to the conference room table, not even bothering to sit down, just slamming down your membership card to the Justice League on the table. “I quit… just thought I would come in person at least to say it since it’s polite or whatever…”
“Huntress, please think about this.”
“I have already thought about it, Arrow.” You quickly snap back a reply to the archer, slapping away his hand when he tried to reach for your arm when you attempted to walk away. “I can’t be a part of the Justice League anymore… I just can’t… not after everything that has happened.”
“Beautiful, just-“
“What the fuck did you just call me, Lantern?!” You slowly turn your glare to the brunette Green Lantern sitting across the table from where you stand, your very being filled with rage at the words he just said. “The only man I have ever truly loved and trusted completely just died and you have flirted with me on multiple occasions since then- for fuck’s sake, he was a member of the Justice League to and it’s like he never even existed to you all! But when I quit, it's like your whole world is coming to an end! What the actual fuck is wrong with you all?!”
“(Name), just listen to reason, please.”
“I’m done listening, Dinah.” You snap at Black Canary, who was just attempting to calm you down after your outburst. You then snap your head at Batman, who is just silently staring you down with a cold as ice glare. “Don’t even try finding me in Gotham, Batsy. I’m moving out of that fucking hellhole… There is nothing left for me there anymore.” You turn on your heel, beginning to walk right out the door you came in from. “Hope you all have nice lives, see you never.”

That was all two years ago…
It has been two years since you resigned from the Justice League, to put it in polite terms. That same night you quit, you packed up everything that mattered to you in your car and just started driving, not even bothering to say goodbye, after all, you really did not have that many people to say goodbye to anymore. You drove until your car broke down near a small town in the middle of nowhere, Arizona, and you were taken in and patched up. You settled down there, well settled as much as you could though you never really left that hero life behind, after all it was how you could look after the people who took you in and there were grateful for that, you were the town’s guardian angel and their best kept secret, everyone who lived there knew that you were the Huntress but it was an unspoken rule not to tell a soul for how much you have been through already and what you’ve done for them, and thank goodness for that since you would not want your life up turned now of all times, when you have found yourself a reason to live again which took the form of your young adoptive protégé, a teenage girl you managed to rescue from an organ trafficking ring. She wanted you to train her, so you did, especially given that the poor girl had nowhere else to go but besides stay with you…
What an interesting mother-daughter duo you two were together.
“Hey sugar, how was school today?” You asked your adoptive daughter as you heard the back door open, and you were sitting down on one of the barstools at the kitchen island. You glanced over to the clock on the oven, it was only noon. You turned back to your daughter as she set her backpack down on the floor by the back door as she took off her shoes, and you noticed there was a slight shake in her form. “Hun, why are you home early? Did something happen?”
“Well-“
“Why don’t you go to another room, kid?” Your stomach twisted in knots as you heard another voice come from the doorway that was far too familiar for comfort. You slowly looked up and groaned as you saw the familiar red and yellow suit that belonged to the far too familiar speedster. Barry had his cowl pulled back to reveal his blonde hair and blue eyes. “Sorry for dropping in, it’s been a while-“
“What are you doing here, Allen?”
“Mom, wait, you know the-“
“Go to your room, we’ll talk about this later, Sugar.” You could practically hear your daughter roll her eyes as you watched her pick up her backpack up again and walk off to her room, or well you knew she was lurking in the hallway just past your sight, eavesdropping on your conversation, but you really didn’t care, it was just to get Barry off your back. “Why are you here, Barry?”
“Well it’s a bit of a story, I found your kid in full gear about an hour from here, there was a smuggling ring base in a warehouse being run by the Intergang that the League has been watching for a while and I was sent to intercept a shipment there only to find her there.”
“Jesus Christ, what did she do?”
“Knocked three of their guys out before she got hit pretty hard herself.” Your anxiety swelled as you glanced back over to see if your daughter was hiding behind a wall, and you guessed that Barry caught on to your stress. “Hey, hey, hey, don’t worry, I got her patched up.”
“Oh, thank god- wait, how did you know where I lived?”
“Don’t be mad-“
“Is the League fucking stalking me??”
“It’s not like that!”
“Then what is it, Barry?!”
“We just want to make sure you’re okay, alright? You haven’t been right since you left the Justice League.” He sighed, reaching out and placing a hand on your shoulder. You would have lashed out two years ago, but you stayed completely calm these days, even with your bad reputation in the hero scene. “You’ll always have a seat saved for you at the table when you’re ready to come back.”
“I have a question for you, is it possible to bring the dead back to life?” You asked the blonde speedster, gently pushing his hand off your shoulder, already knowing the answer to your question. “I haven’t been alright since he died, alright, when he died and you all acted like nothing was wrong, just another case, not like a member of the Justice League died, someone I cared about very much.”
“Look, we’re all sorry about what happened-“
“I remember that night, I sent a message out on the comm line and I know for a fact that you heard me and had the ability to get there in time to save him, but you didn’t, why?” You scowled, keeping yourself from lashing out at Barry, keeping yourself calm since you have made too much progress now to go back. “You or Superman, you both would have been fast enough, but you didn’t come and I was the one who was holding him when he died, Vic is gone and he is not coming back, and whose fault is that?”
“There was nothing we could do-“
“That’s bullshit and we both know that.” You sighed, walking over to your kitchen cabinet and pulling out a wine glass from a higher shelf along with a bottle of red wine. “Thank you for bringing my girl back home, but I’m not joining the Justice League again. You can see yourself out.”
“Alright, but if you need me, you know where to call.”
“Goodbye, Barry.” You sighed a sigh of relief as a gust of wind blew past you, and he disappeared in a blur, closing the back door behind him. You popped the cork of the bottle of red wine and began pouring it into your glass. You were already going to have a drink today, but you needed it now more than ever. You brought it to your lips, taking a long sip as you began to think, why did they care so much about you, but not care enough about Vic to save him, after all, that was the question. “Hey, Sugar?”
“Ya?”
“You’re grounded for ditching school, no missions with me for a month.”
“Damn it.”

Washington, D.C.
July 4, 13:55 EDT
Tumblr media
You knew you should not, but you had loose ends to tie up, or rather loose ends of your old partner. You were not about to leave your daughter thousands of miles away, home alone, so you brought her along for the ride. Though there was one massive problem with your plan, when you left the Justice League you did not clear out your partner’s things from the Hall of Justice or the Watchtower, so that meant you had to put on the costume again to go inside and since your young protégé is tagging along, she comes along with you, full suit and all.
Huntress and her little Nightingale.
There was just another problem with your plan, as you stalked outside the Hall of Justice, just hidden in the tree line of the park that surrounded the building, sure you expected a few tourists because there was a museum display in the front of the building, but there were camera crews and everything.
“So we’re not going through the main door?”
“We never were, Babydoll.” You gave your little girl a wink as you reached out a gloved hand and pinched her cheek. “This just complicated things a tad… You remember that training game we used to do where you would try to grab something without me spotting you?”
“Ya?”
“Think of this like that, just don’t let any civilians spot you-“ You cut yourself off as you felt a pressing sensation in the back of your mind like someone was asking permission to come inside, and there was only one person you knew who had that sort of power. You scanned the massive front entrance of the Hall of Justice, seeing if you could spot any familiar faces, and a familiar sight you did see, Martian Manhunter looking right at you.
“You know, you may come in through the front entrance, you are always welcome back into the Justice League.” The voice of J’onn rang through your mind as he stared at you, which made you roll your eyes. “Your new partner would be welcome as well to visit the Hall of Justice.”
“Not really in the rejoining the League mood, J’onn. I’m just here to grab the Question’s old things… he left some stuff here before he died.” Your own mind was even slow to say that, as if part of you did not want to admit that Vic was dead. “And when have sidekicks been welcomed into the League’s headquarters, even the secured places of the Hall of Justice? Last time I was in the League, Batman was pretty struck by that sort of thing.”
“I suppose this would be a special day then.” You raised your eyes at that comment, but it still intrigued you to say the least. “But if it is your intention not to create a scene, then perhaps it would be best for you not to sneak in the Hall of Justice through the back windows of the library; there are new alarms in there that were just installed last month.”
“…fuck it, fine.” You groaned as you leaped forward from the branch you were camped out on, grabbing onto another one like uneven bars in gymnastics and flipping onto the pavement and landing on your feet. You could hear the crowd’s shocked gasps and applause as your little girl followed, landing on her feet as you began your walk through the crowd, growing more uncomfortable in the spotlight that you put yourself in once again.
“It’s the Huntress!”
“Didn’t she leave the Justice League two years ago?”
“Who is that girl with her?”
“You don’t know? That’s Nightingale, her sidekick.”
“Like Robin to Batman?!”
“Oh my god, I’m like your biggest fan, Huntress!”
“Lots of people here today, J’onn.” You chime up as you walk past the security gates set up, walking up the stairs of the Hall of Justice to where Martian Manhunter stands near the doors. “May I ask what the occasion is? Let me guess, given that Nightingale is welcome, something like a tour for the kids.”
“I am not a kid!”
“Yet you’ll always be my little girl.” You smirk at your partner’s response to your comment, which earned a small smile from J’onn as well. “To put introductions aside, this is my sidekick, Nightingale. Nightingale, this is Martian Manhunter, a former colleague of mine when I was in the Justice League.”
“It’s nice to meet you, sir.” Nightingale gave a small smile and wave to the Martian, handshakes for her were off the table, the only person she allowed to touch her was you. You knew J’onn would not mind since you knew during your days in the Justice League, he worked with all sorts of victims and their trauma.
“The pleasure is all mine, Miss Nightingale.” You watched as J’onn gestured with an arm to lead you both inside the building. “Please come inside, we will be able to talk inside. Batman, Green Arrow, the Flash, and Aquaman will all be here shortly, as well as Red Tornado, who is already inside the library. I am sure they would wish to speak to you as well.”
“Thank you, but I don’t think we have the time today.” You walked forward, the glass doors sliding open as Nightingale followed after you. “I’m just here to grab a few things from storage, and then we’ll be on our way.”
“If that is what you wish.” You walked inside and could hear behind you when J’onn turned his head to speak to Nightingale. “You may tour the Hall of Justice if you would like, or you may wait in the library inside if you so wish.”
“Um… Huntress?”
“You can do what you want, Babydoll.” You replied to her, glancing over your shoulder at her unsure gaze. “I won’t be long.”
Tumblr media
You promised her you would not be long, but it was so hard when looking over everything was so emotional for you. You stood in the basement archives of the Hall of Justice, looking through the cardboard box labeled with your partner’s old alias. It was full of messy notes and journals; he was never the most organized type, even if he was one of the best detectives in the world; he was also a conspiracy theorist after all.
The Girl Scouts are behind the crop circle phenomenon.
Pop Songs Contain Hidden Government Updates.
Shakespeare stole all of his plays, and they were actually written by other playwrights.
So much of it just made you laugh as you sifted through the box, a bittersweet chuckle that made your gut hurt. You were taking all of this with you, but you were specifically after his case binder. He kept one with potential leads for the Justice League to follow on certain cases, including his last case, which irritated him for weeks before his death, and you were finally going to solve it for him.
You finally found the binder at the bottom of the box, and you sighed a sigh of relief as you picked it up, and goodness, it was heavy. You managed to balance it on one arm as you flipped it open, pushing past all the old case files in folders until you finally reached the last one he was working on, you pulled it out before setting the case book back in the box, you would come back for it later after you got a start on this case. You flipped the file open, reading it as you began walking back upstairs, hopefully to find that sidekick of yours.

[FILE: Q-47-CADMUS – RECORDED 3:47AM // UNKNOWN SAFEHOUSE // VIC SAGE]
SUBJECT: CADMUS. Cadmus Labs. Project Cadmus.
Location: Washington, D.C., of course it is. The city where truth gets bought, sedated, or buried under a monument.
OBSERVATION:
“Genetics research lab” is the public-facing phrase. They call it that, like it's a flu vaccine factory.
But Cadmus doesn't research genes.
It rewrites them.
It rehearses them.
It resurrects them.
THEORY 1: THE LABYRINTH HAS NO EXIT
Cadmus, named after the myth. He sowed dragon’s teeth and raised soldiers. Not metaphors. History. Warning labels.
What if Cadmus isn’t just a lab, but a ritual?
A living spell disguised as science.
Gene-editing as invocation.
DNA = Divine Numerological Algorithm.
But who’s cloning who?
THEORY 2: DNA DOESN’T MEAN WHAT WE THINK
Double helix = locked door.
What if DNA doesn’t describe life, it summons it?
Every gene strand is a syllable in the universe’s true name.
Cadmus is trying to speak to God.
Or worse, reply to something already spoken.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS:
Why do none of the Cadmus employees have baby pictures? (Scanned their records. Birth certificates are postdated by three years. Clones? Time-jumps? Manufactured memories?)
Why do I keep dreaming in binary?
CONCLUSION: TRUTH DENIED. FACTS MALFORMED.
Cadmus isn't the monster.
It's the nest.
The egg.
Something's waiting to hatch.
And we’ve already named it with our blood.
I’ll keep digging. But every answer tastes like ash.
Either I’m onto something...
Or they’ve already rewritten me, too.

Tumblr media
You groaned as the doors to the library slid open, as you closed the file that gave you more questions than answers, but Vic’s writing on cases always did that to you. You tucked the file under your arm as you looked around the library, your gaze falling at the end of the room, the far end with the sliding doors that led into the access room which held the zeta tube which led to the Justice League’s real headquarters, The Watchtower, that floated above the planet in orbit. You spotted a few figures at the end of the room as well, and your heart immediately sank.
You already did not like the side of your former colleagues, the Flash, Green Arrow, Batman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Red Tornado, but it sent shivers down your spine to see your little girl tensely sitting beside other teenagers around her age on the library’s furniture. You recognized the children; after all, you kept up with the news. There were Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Speedy all sitting beside her.
As you stepped forward, all of the heads of the Justice League members turned to look at you. Still, your focus was fixated on the red face of your daughter, clearly uncomfortable with the attention she was receiving, so you forced a smile, the tense kind of smile that hinted at the rage you were hiding inside you. You placed a hand on the Kid Flash’s shoulder, who was standing in front of your daughter, clearly trying to chat her up; you knew the type. Perhaps your grip was a little too tight, but you did not care, as you saw you got your point across when you saw that look of fear in his eyes as he saw you.
“I don’t think we’ve met, I’m the Huntress.” You forced the words out just as you forced a smile on your face. “Now I know all my little girl’s friends, and since you are not one of her friends, let’s back up and give a girl her personal space, yes?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
“Good boy.”

First Meetings: Chapter 1
I figured I'd post my ao3 fic on here. This is inspired by @keferon's amazing reverse mecha au. I love their stuff so much!
Summary:
Jazz broke into the Quintesson base to steal back a battle computer that could change the course of the war.
At the same time Prowl, who had the battle computer they stole from the Quintessons installed in him, was captured by the Quintessons trying to get their battle computer back.
Jazz crept through the Quintesson base’s vents. They had finally managed to track down where the battle computer the Quintessons stole was being stored. Every mech that tried to use it had it removed after a few orns—and those were mechs whose entire jobs were to crunch numbers and make plans. It was too powerful for even the best mechs to safely handle it. There was no way they could let the Quintessons figure out a way to use it.
That meant it was Jazz’s job to steal it back from the Quints. By any means necessary.
If the Quints could get the battle computer to work for them it might be the tipping point of the war, moving it in their favor.
Jazz managed to sneak into the base behind a group of Quintesson scouts returning from patrol before jumping into the first set of vents he could find that were large enough to fit his armor. It was a tight squeeze, but he managed to make it. Jazz would leave his armor behind and continue in his unshrinkable form if he needed to, but he’d rather not leave himself so vulnerable in enemy territory, even if it was stealthier.
Hopefully he could find some sort of lead before then.
He just needed to keep an optic out, and—
There.
A Quintesson scientist walking through the halls. If anyone could lead Jazz to the battle computer, it would be one of them. He just needed to wait for the Quintesson to get somewhere a little more isolated before interrogating him.
Jazz followed the scientist through several hallways before they made their way to a dark room. Jazz’s visor automatically adjusted his vision allowing him to see the other scientist already in the room at a computer and, more importantly, the motionless mech in the center of the room.
The mech was laying on their front, his servos and pedes restrained to the table. His legs were bent at an awkward angle, possible damage from how the Quints captured him. More importantly there was a massive cable plugged into the back of their neck that directly connected them to the Quintesson’s computer.
What the frag were the Quintessons doing to the mech?
“Any progress on accessing the battle computer?” The Quintesson Jazz followed asked.
What?
The other scientist’s tentacles wiggled in agitation. “It continues to resist my attempts to access the battle computer.”
“Why do you insist on keeping it alive? It would be more productive to work directly with the battle computer.” The first scientist sneered.
“Because it is capable of using the battle computer. Your attempts to utilize the battle computer were nowhere near as successful as it is. If we can utilize it as an interface for the battle computer, it can actually be useful to us.”
Frag. He thought he would be able to carry the battle computer out the way he came in. There was no way he could sneak an unresponsive mech out through the vents. It would be too loud and draw the Quintesson’s attention. He couldn’t just leave him here though.
Jazz was debating how to get himself and the other mech out of the base in mostly one piece as the scientists continued arguing with each other. They might be able to sneak through the halls, but they’d need to be really lucky to avoid everyone who might raise an alarm. No, that was a terrible idea. Fighting their way out wasn’t a good idea either—even if the other mech was still able to fight. They were in the middle of a Quint base, they’d be swarmed.
The mech’s servo briefly twitched before he began convulsing and screaming. The battle computer must have been going in overdrive because the cable and computer began sparking and smoking. The scientists backed away swearing.
“I thought you said there’s no way it could wake up.”
“There isn’t. I don’t understand how—”
The scientist didn’t get to finish his sentence because Jazz killed both of them with a single shot each. Dropping out of the vent he approached the convulsing mech. He had never seen a mech convulse like this before. Was it a crash?
How did he fix this?
He needed to get the mech out, and Jazz would rather not have to haul a lifeless frame out.
Maybe the cable was the problem? If the Quints were using it to query the battle computer, it might have sent it into overdrive. With no better idea of how to help the mech Jazz ripped the cable out of the mech’s neck and he immediately went limp.
“Hey, you feeling better?” Jazz asked as he started cutting open the restraints. And wow, was this mech’s legs weird. Now that he was so close Jazz could see that the mech’s legs were naturally bent like that instead of being damaged. At least Jazz didn’t need to worry about him being able to walk in the escape.
The mech turned to face Jazz as soon as he was freed, letting Jazz see his face for the first time. Only, there was no face. A dark red chevron led into a visor and smooth battle mask below that. The connection seams between these pieces were too thin to be a battle mask.
Was he an empurata victim? That could explain the face and legs. Or did the Quints do this to him?
The mech said something, but Jazz couldn’t understand a single glyph. “I don’t understand you. Do you understand me?” Jazz asked, but the mech didn’t answer that.
Instead, the mech asked in the Quintesson’s language, “Who are you?”
“I’m Jazz. You?” Jazz responded with a grin. Friendly, he needed to be friendly. Get this mech to trust him and escape the Quintessons together. They could figure everything else out afterwards.
“Prowl. Why are you here?” Prowl asked, standing up from the table he was strapped too. And, wow, Prowl was big. Standing a full head taller than Jazz and broader as well. Not to mention the three pairs of sort-of-doorwings that stretched out. There was no way Prowl could fit in the vents. He needed a new plan to sneak them out.
“I’m here to recover the battle computer the Quintesons stole from us. Which means rescuing you.” Jazz grinned leaning towards Prowl.
Prowl nodded decisively at Jazz’s statement and started walking to the door. “Follow me.”
“Hey, wait. You’re going to die if you try walking out of here.” Jazz shouted reaching over to grab Prowl’s shoulder and stop him from leaving. “Do you even know the way out?”
Prowl froze at the touch. “Of course I do. While I was plugged into their systems, I found the structural plans of the base and the patrol schedules. I’ve already calculated the optimal path for escape.”
“And after you get off base? How do you plan on leaving this planet yourself?” Jazz asked. They were on a desolate rock whose notable feature was the base they were in right now. The ship he came in on was the only way Prowl was getting out of here. Even if it would be a tighter fit with an extra person. He didn’t expect this to turn into a rescue mission and focused on stealth and speed, not space.
“I’m leaving through their space bridge, not the front door.”
“Do you know how risky using the Quintessons’ space bridge is?” Jazz hissed. Did this mech have a death wish?
Prowl turned to face Jazz. It was hard trying to tell what Prowl was feeling with his lack of a face or EM field, but the way Prowl tilted his head to look at Jazz screamed exasperation.
“I know how to operate the space bridge. It’s our best chance of escaping this place.” Prowl flatly said.
“Or we could fly out of here in my ship and not risk taking a space bridge.” Jazz suggested.
“No. Leaving the base has an 82.8% chance of us dying. Bridging away, however, only has a 22.4% chance of us dying.”
Wonderful.
“Is that the battle computer talking?” Jazz asked.
“Yes. Now, are you coming with me or not?” Prowl asked.
Jazz vented. He didn’t think it was a good idea, but the battle computer was supposed to be able to calculate the best course of action in any situation. “Fine. But if this fails, we’re doing things my way.”
Prowl sharply nodded and headed towards the door. This time Jazz didn’t try to stop him and instead followed him out.

STORMY NIGHT-RAFE CAMERON
𝕤𝕦𝕞𝕞𝕒𝕣𝕪 Rafe takes shelter in a remote cabin during a storm and unexpectedly finds it already occupied by you. Trapped together for the night, tensions run high as the storm outside mirrors the turmoil in Rafe's soul, leading to a surprising confession that changes everything.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The storm hit fast and hard, catching you off guard as you trekked the wooded path toward the safety of your family’s cabin. By the time you reached the door, rain had soaked through every layer of clothing, and the wind whipped against your skin like icy knives. With trembling hands, you fumbled for the spare key hidden under the loose floorboard of the porch.
Finally inside, you kicked off your boots, lit a few candles, and settled into the silence, broken only by the rumble of thunder. The storm would pass by morning, and for now, the isolation was comforting.
Until you heard the door slam.
Heart pounding, you reached for the fireplace poker and crept toward the sound. The faint flicker of candlelight cast shadows along the walls, playing tricks on your mind. Then you saw him, soaked to the bone, hair plastered to his forehead, his eyes wild and frantic.
"Rafe?" you whispered, lowering the poker but keeping your grip tight. "What the hell are you doing here?"
He leaned against the doorframe, panting. "I didn’t know anyone was here." His voice was raspy, tinged with exhaustion. "Car broke down a mile back. Storm...it’s bad."
You hesitated, every instinct screaming to send him back into the rain. But something in his expression stopped you, an edge of vulnerability you hadn’t seen before. With a sigh, you stepped aside. "Fine. But don’t try anything."
Rafe snorted, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. "Yeah, sure. Like I’d risk it." He peeled off his dripping jacket and tossed it over the back of a chair.
The two of you fell into an uneasy silence. Rafe hovered near the window, staring out into the storm as if he could will it away. You busied yourself making tea, anything to fill the oppressive quiet.
"You’ve got a nice setup here," he said finally, his voice softer than you expected. "Better than being stuck in the middle of nowhere."
"Why were you out here anyway?" you asked, handing him a steaming mug. "Doesn’t seem like your scene."
Rafe took the tea but didn’t drink it. Instead, he stared into the cup like it held all the answers to his problems. "Needed to clear my head," he said. "Things have been...complicated."
You raised an eyebrow. "Complicated? That’s one way to put it."
His jaw tightened, and for a moment, you thought he might snap back with one of his usual arrogant retorts. But when he spoke, his voice was raw. "You think I don’t know what people say about me? What they think? They don’t get it. None of them do."
You frowned, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone. "Then tell me. What don’t they get?"
Rafe laughed bitterly, shaking his head. "Doesn’t matter. You wouldn’t believe me anyway."
"Try me," you challenged, stepping closer.
He looked at you then, really looked at you, his blue eyes glassy with an emotion you couldn’t quite place. For the first time, the cocky mask slipped away, leaving behind someone who looked lost.
"I’ve messed up," he admitted, barely above a whisper. "More times than I can count. But it’s not like I woke up one day and decided to be this way. Do you know what it’s like to never be enough? For your dad, your family, anyone? I tried, but it was never enough."
The words hung heavy in the air, the storm outside a distant roar compared to the storm raging within him. You didn’t know what to say, what could you say? Rafe Cameron, of all people, standing here, pouring his heart out like this.
"You don’t have to keep being that person," you said quietly. "The one everyone expects you to be."
Rafe’s lips twisted into a sad smile. "Easier said than done."
"Maybe," you agreed. "But you’re here now. That means something, doesn’t it?"
He didn’t answer, just stared at you with an intensity that made your chest ache. The storm outside raged on, but in that moment, it felt like the world had stopped. For once, Rafe wasn’t the brash, reckless guy you thought you knew. He was just a boy, broken and trying to piece himself back together.
And maybe, just maybe, you could help.
The silence between you stretched on, filled only by the sound of rain pelting against the windows and the occasional crack of thunder. You weren’t sure what to say next, but there was something in Rafe’s expression, something fragile, as if one wrong word could shatter whatever tenuous thread of trust had formed between you.
“Why did you really come out here, Rafe?” you asked softly, leaning against the edge of the table. “Don’t tell me it was just to clear your head.”
He hesitated, his fingers tightening around the mug. For a moment, it looked like he might retreat back into his usual defensive shell, but then he sighed, the weight of it seeming to deflate him entirely.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” he admitted, his voice barely audible over the storm. “Everything’s falling apart. My dad’s on my case, the Pogues are stirring up trouble again, and…I don’t know. It feels like I’m suffocating.”
His words hung in the air, raw and unfiltered. You wanted to hate him for everything he’d done, for the chaos he always seemed to bring with him, but it was hard to ignore the pain etched into his features. He wasn’t just some reckless rich kid causing problems for fun. He was struggling, drowning in the weight of expectations, guilt, and whatever demons haunted him.
“I know I’m a mess,” he continued, his voice cracking. “I know everyone sees me as some psycho who screws everything up. And maybe they’re right. But…” He trailed off, shaking his head. “Forget it. You wouldn’t understand.”
You crossed your arms, frowning. “You keep saying that. Like you’re the only person in the world who’s ever felt this way.”
Rafe’s head snapped up, his eyes narrowing. “And what would you know about it?”
“More than you think,” you shot back, your voice steady despite the way your heart raced. “You think you’re the only one who’s ever felt like they can’t measure up? Like no matter what you do, it’s never enough? Newsflash, Rafe, you’re not special. Everyone’s got their own crap to deal with. Yours just comes with a trust fund.”
He flinched, but instead of lashing out, he laughed, a low, humorless sound. “You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that.”
“I’m just telling you the truth,” you said, softening your tone. “You’re not as alone as you think you are.”
Rafe’s gaze lingered on you, a mix of skepticism and something else, something that looked a lot like hope. He set the mug down and ran a hand through his damp hair, his movements slow and deliberate.
“You really believe that?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“I do,” you said firmly. “But you’ve got to start believing it, too. You can’t keep running from everything, Rafe. Not forever.”
He stared at you for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then, almost imperceptibly, he nodded. “Maybe you’re right,” he murmured, his voice so quiet you almost missed it.
The tension in the room seemed to ease, the air between you less charged. Rafe leaned back against the wall, his eyes drifting toward the window where the rain continued to pour. For the first time since he’d walked through the door, he looked calm. Or at least as calm as someone like Rafe Cameron could be.
“Thanks,” he said suddenly, his voice breaking the silence. It wasn’t much, but the sincerity in his tone made it feel significant.
You nodded, offering him a small smile. “Anytime.”
The storm outside raged on, but inside the cabin, it felt like the beginning of something different, a truce, maybe. Or a fragile connection that neither of you fully understood yet. Whatever it was, you had a feeling it wasn’t the end of the story.
The storm continued to batter the cabin, but the tension between you and Rafe had softened, replaced by a quiet, unspoken understanding.
Rafe moved to sit on the worn couch, his shoulders slumping as if the weight of the world was finally starting to lift. You sat across from him in the armchair, the flickering candlelight casting shadows across his face. He looked different in this light, more human, more vulnerable.
“Can I ask you something?” you ventured, breaking the silence.
He glanced up, his blue eyes cautious but curious. “Sure. Why not?”
“What’s the real reason you feel like you’re not enough? Is it just your dad, or is there more to it?”
Rafe let out a bitter laugh, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees. “You really want to dig into my screwed up psyche, huh?”
“I’m just trying to understand,” you said, your tone soft but firm. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but I think you want to. Even if it’s just to get it off your chest.”
He stared at the floor for a long moment, the candlelight reflecting off the strands of damp hair clinging to his forehead. When he finally spoke, his voice was low and filled with a quiet intensity.
“It’s not just my dad,” he admitted. “But he’s a big part of it. Ward Cameron’s golden boy, right? Supposed to have it all figured out, supposed to carry on the family legacy. But no matter what I do, it’s never enough. He always finds something to criticize. Something to pick apart.”
He clenched his fists, the knuckles turning white. “And then there’s Sarah. Everyone loves Sarah. She’s perfect, isn’t she? The golden child, the one who can do no wrong. Meanwhile, I’m the screw up. The one who ruins everything. People don’t even bother to look past the surface, they just see the crazy, entitled Cameron kid who’s too far gone to save.”
His voice cracked on the last word, and he exhaled sharply, running a hand over his face. “I don’t know. Maybe they’re right. Maybe I really am just broken.”
“Stop,” you said firmly, leaning forward in your chair. “You’re not broken, Rafe. You’ve made mistakes, yeah, but that doesn’t mean you’re beyond saving. It doesn’t mean you can’t change.”
He looked at you then, his eyes filled with something raw and desperate. “And what if I can’t? What if this is all I’ll ever be?”
“You’re the only one who can decide that,” you said, holding his gaze. “But you’ve got to start by letting yourself believe that you’re worth more than what other people think of you. Your dad, the Pogues, anyone. They don’t get to define you, Rafe. Only you do.”
For a moment, you thought he might argue, but then he nodded slowly, the tension in his shoulders easing just a fraction. “You really think I can do it? That I can be better?”
“I wouldn’t be saying all this if I didn’t,” you replied with a small smile. “It’s not going to be easy, but yeah, I think you can. You just have to want it.”
Rafe leaned back against the couch, his expression contemplative. “Maybe I do,” he murmured, almost to himself. “Maybe I’ve been wanting it for a long time.”
The rain outside began to taper off, the storm losing its ferocity. The quiet that followed felt almost surreal, as if the world had been reset. You glanced at the window, noting the faint hint of dawn beginning to break through the clouds.
“It’s almost morning,” you said, your voice soft. “The storm’s letting up.”
Rafe followed your gaze, his lips curving into a faint, almost shy smile. “Yeah. Guess it is.”
For the first time, you saw a glimmer of something in him that you hadn’t before, hope. It was small, fragile, but it was there. And as the first rays of sunlight broke through the clouds, you couldn’t help but feel that maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something new for both of you.

“But Dad, I Want a Baby Sister!”
Tumblr media
pin↑
ref:
First daughter :Ruka Second son: Kashu Third son : Kitto
The warm glow of the evening sun spills across the dinner table, casting a cozy light over the family. Ruka is chatting excitedly about her day at school, Kashu is busy stealing glances at his sister’s plate for extra helpings, and Kitto is just… thinking. Silent, almost ominously so, his face serious as he stares down at his fork. And then, out of nowhere, he looks up, big, bright eyes settling right on Kakashi.“Dad,” Kitto begins, his little voice serious, “can I have a baby sister?”Kakashi, in the middle of chewing his rice, freezes. The world slows down as his brain scrambles to process the bomb his youngest just dropped.“A… a baby sister?” Kakashi’s voice comes out strangled, trying to keep his cool. “Are you… sure you want a sister? Three’s a really nice number, you know. Three is, uh, perfect.”Kitto’s eyes don’t waver. “Nope. I want a sister,” he says with total conviction. “Everyone in my class has one.”Y/N, watching from her seat, stifles a laugh, eyes sparkling as she sees Kakashi’s internal panic mode begin to activate.---Operation: Avoidance BeginsKakashi puts down his fork, gathering himself. Alright, time to think. He’s been on missions. He’s survived battles. He can handle this.“Kitto,” he begins carefully, “what about… a puppy? Puppies are just like little sisters—fluffy, cute, and they don’t cry in the middle of the night!”Kitto frowns, unimpressed. “A puppy won’t be able to play ninja with us.”“Ah…” Kakashi’s mind scrambles again. “Well… we could get two puppies?” He glances at Y/N, silently pleading for backup, but she only arches an eyebrow, smiling sweetly, thoroughly enjoying his suffering.---Escalating TacticsFor the next two days, Kakashi tries everything to keep Kitto’s mind off the idea. He comes home with new ninja toys, offers bedtime stories about really great trios, and even makes a chart of how “three kids equals perfect balance.”Yet, somehow, Kitto finds a way to keep bringing it up.One night, as Kakashi is tucking him into bed, Kitto gives him the puppy dog eyes—the ones that no dad can resist.“But, Dad…” Kitto says, voice small, eyes wide. “I’d take care of her. I’d teach her all the best ninja moves. I’ll even share my room.”Kakashi sighs, patting Kitto’s head. “We’ll… see, okay? I’ll think about it.” He glances over his shoulder, seeing Y/N leaning in the doorway, barely containing her laughter.“Yeah, Dad,” she chimes in innocently. “Maybe thinking is the right idea.”Kakashi sends her a look. Traitor.
Plot Twist: The Ultimate PrankA few days later,
The house was quiet, the kids were asleep, and Kakashi was finally sinking into the couch beside Y/N, ready for a rare, peaceful evening together. They were talking about everything and nothing, when suddenly, Y/N looked over, a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Kashi,” she began, keeping her tone steady, “I have something to tell you…”
He raised an eyebrow, sensing the shift in her tone. “Oh?”
She took a deep breath, putting on her best poker face. “I’m… pregnant.”
Kakashi blinked, a slight smirk already tugging at the corner of his mouth. Pregnant, was she? Oh, he was onto her. But he wouldn’t let her know that just yet.
“Oh really?” he replied, voice as calm as ever. “That’s… interesting.” He leaned forward, studying her face closely. “Tell me, Y/N… when did you find out?”
Y/N almost broke then and there, but she held it together, barely. “Just recently,” she replied smoothly. “I, uh… wanted it to be a surprise.”
Kakashi nodded slowly, his eyes narrowing just slightly. “I see. And, you’re sure?” He crossed his arms, leaning back with that intense, shinobi stare, as if he were sizing up an enemy.
Y/N felt a bead of sweat form on her forehead. He wasn’t reacting at all the way she’d expected. “Yes. Very sure.”
He paused, letting the silence hang between them. “I see. Well, if that’s the case…” He let out a soft sigh, standing up and glancing toward the kids’ rooms. “I guess we’ll need to start preparing. A fourth will really add to the chaos, don’t you think?” He looked back at her, expression unreadable.
“Y-Yeah,” Y/N stammered, trying to keep the act going. “A fourth… just imagine!”
Kakashi’s smirk grew just a fraction. “Oh, I’m imagining it.” He moved closer, sitting down beside her, his voice dropping to a whisper. “In fact… I’m almost positive this is a surprise that someone… didn’t think through completely.”
Her eyes widened, and she burst out laughing, covering her face as her prank completely crumbled. “Alright, alright, you got me! You’re way too sharp for this!”
Kakashi laughed, pulling her close, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. “Nice try. But you’re talking to Kakashi Hatake. I don’t scare that easy.” He grinned, holding her tighter. “But I do appreciate the creativity. Don’t worry—you’ll get what’s coming to you for that one.”
She smiled, rolling her eyes. “I should have known better than to try and trick you.”
Kakashi chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “Maybe next time.” And as they sat there, he couldn’t help but laugh, knowing that when it came to surprises, he was always one step ahead.
Lol hope y'all enjoyed reading☠️
Should we get a 4th baby tho?
I mean 4 isn't that bad right (^^)
[ do we need a back story of Ruka, Kashu and kitto's birth too?? ]
I'm "Not really good at writing down bad or smut type stuff actually so y'all have to deal with fluff but I'ma try to keep things a little spicy next time if possible "!
Thank you for reading and for yo support ✨

- he found nightwing (he was blipped aka DID NOT survive the snap) and tried to pick a fight with him for being so joyful during all this (granted he didn’t know-).
- he understood it wasn’t the worlds fault tho and just tired to do his best with helping explain to everyone what had happened.
- (at the end of the day he’s just a teenager )
- he took some time to re adjust to everyone being back. But eventually found peace
SELINA AND DUKE
Tumblr media
-selina Kyle and duke thomas DID both survive the thanos snap!!
-they were with eachother on a bat fam mission when all of a sudden *POOF* they were all gone except for duke, Selina, Kate and Damian
-Kate and Damian almost immediately went their separate ways without notice
- Selina didn’t panic, in fact she was pretty calm with all of this
-Thomas on the other hand.. HE WAS A MESS
- full panic mode on his part
- after a little calming down they went to Wayne manor to find nobody they’re either.
- they stuck together travelling to metropolis to once again find nobody except for Lois lane who did survive.
- they all co existed together (lot easier to live there than gotham without the bat so)
- when they came back DUKE WAS SO HAPPY he cried .
-Selina was calm as always as they made their way back to gotham where ALL HELL WAS BREAKING LOOSE ON THE STREETS
- people were so confused
- everyone went back to Wayne manor (dick, Tim, Steph, babs and the rest of the blipped batfam) to find Cissie , Jason, and Roy living there and those three were SHOCKED.
- “awh man now we gotta move out!!”
- big family reunion for the batfam 💗

Trolls Au Kinda??
So i had an idea of a story that makes JD, Bruce, Clay and Floyd better bros kinda??
So my thought is that on the night the band broke up, the boys all left, but while they were gone, baby Branch and Grandma Rosiepuff got found by a bergen and then taken and placed in the the Trollstice tree.
In my opinion, Branch and Rosiepuff being added to the tree and Brozone not already being there makes sense, cuz if they were already there, then how the fuck did they leave?
Anyway, then the brothers actually come back in the morning, regretful of how they acted, only to see no Branch or Grandma. They spend a few years trying to find where theyve gone and not checking Bergen Town to avoid being caught and also hoping that they just weren't there. Finally they check but at that point everyone is gone. So it takes even more years to track down the elusive Pop troll Village, because its in the middle of nowhere. But it took so long, that by the time it was found, only John Dory found it in determination to save Floyd, while the Clay and Bruce moved on. And then Trolls 3 happens.
I like this idea a fuckin lot cuz it makes the bros more forgivable(though i like that too).
If anyone wants to do something with this, pleaseee do! I'm gonna draw it maybe soon, but if you wanna draw it or write a fanfic with it, go ahead!! Just give me credit lol.

Hello Neighbor: Kept Secrets
By JJ
Summary: With Nicky missing, and no one around to help, it's up to Trinity and the rescue squad to investigate the neighbor and save their friend.
Chapter 3
I went home late that day. When I walked through the door, my mom was already waiting at the door with a displeased look on her face.
"Trinity, where have you been?", she asked. "You could've at least given one of us a call to let us know you'd be home late."
I didn't answer. I just stared at the floor. My mom walked closer to me and tilted my head up to meet her stern gaze. "Trinity, answer me.", she said.
And out of nowhere, I felt my eyes fill to the brim with tears. Soon, the tears were falling down my face, and I could feel it ruining my mascara. Mom's face went from stern to worried.
She guided me to the living room, and sat me down, her hands on my shoulders. I took a deep breath and told her everything.
"I wanted to see Nicky today, but when I went to his house, I found out he went missing last night.", I whimpered. "The police think he ran away, but no one's satisfied with that. Everyone else on Friendly Court thinks there's a kidnapper on the loose."
I broke down crying again, and my mom pulled me in for a big hug, rubbing my back.
The next day was the weekend, so that meant I had a lot of free time to help look for Nicky. I recently learned that Mr. Esposito had rallied a couple of employees, they were all searching the entire town of Raven Brooks.
Still no luck, and Mr. and Mrs. Roth were starting to go insane. Everyday, they'd go out in the middle of the town, screaming out Nicky's name, as if they were expecting him to just come back like that.
Mr. Esposito pulled me and his friends to his office one day, "You kids can set up the missing posters.", he said, holding a large stack of paper.
We all agreed, despite it being completely hopeless. Almost everyone in Raven Brooks was trying to find Nicky, so what's the point in putting up posters?
I emptied out my purse full of makeup, and filled it with missing posters. Then I walked all around the street of Friendly Court, putting up missing posters on every streetlight and tree I could find.
After the weekend, the immediate thing I did after school was put up more missing posters. I didn't see what good they were doing, it wasn't going to make Nicky come back. But I guess it was better than just standing around doing nothing.
I walked by Mr. Peterson's house, and I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard a scream come from behind the fence that was too long for my liking.
I dropped my purse, and turned towards the fence. I stood still, thinking the scream was going to come again. It didn't come again.
I nearly had a half mind of knocking on the fence to see what was going on.
Because Mr. Peterson was the only one who wasn't helping around with finding Nicky. He barely left his house, so I doubted he even knew that he was missing.
"Maybe he'd know that if he left his damn house every once in a while.", I thought. I didn't even shake myself free of that thought, because I knew I was right.
I stormed to the fence door, and I was about to knock, but then I heard muffled screaming and grunting coming from the back.
I ran to the backyard, and I peeked through a hole in the fence. What I saw shook me to my core.
"Stop squirming! Nicky, would you please calm the hell down?!"
Mr. Peterson was holding Nicky in a tight grasp, covering his mouth to muffle his screams.
But Nicky didn't calm down. He kept struggling, scratching at Mr. Peterson's arm, but the older man didn't budge. It didn't matter how much Nicky struggled to get out of the man's grasp, Mr. Peterson was bigger and stronger than him.
Mr. Peterson pulled a syringe out of his back pocket, uncapping it with his teeth and holding it to Nicky's neck.
"I warned you, Nicholas.", he growled. And without warning, he stabbed the needle into my friend's neck, and Nicky stopped struggling and fell limp.
I gasped, completely forgetting that Mr. Peterson couldn't hear or see me. He turned his head to the hole from where I was peeking through, and I ran away down the street, grabbing my purse from off the ground.
I started running to the Esposito house to tell Enzo and Maritza what I saw.
To tell them that our friend didn't run away...
He was taken.

Prompt 20: Hamper
Tumblr media
Being the part-time therapist, according to Esredes, meant that you were the one destined to be alone. It was an occupation that barely existed, and you were the healer to everyone else. Someone had to be the one to simply absorb the pain and deal with it, and he was used to it already.
But one session that went particularly bad broke Esredes just a little. He was so incredibly frustrated that something in him twisted all out of place. And he found himself looking onto an old recommendation from a friend. He still didn't believe it was possible for the therapist to be helped, but what did he have to lose? So against all odds, the man tried to put himself in the other seat for once. At first it was just nice to talk about how everything felt, but it didn't take many meetings for the other person to tell him his core problem could never be fixed, and he would always have to choose between being well-liked and sincerity.
Well, he knew that already, and he knew the choice he'd make. So Esredes slipped the mask back on and left. He knew this was a truth, but now he didn't have to waste time figuring out if somehow he missed an answer like people kept insisting for him. They were just hopelessly idealistic, and he already knew exactly how the world worked. No more wasting time on things only meant for real people.
Some time later, Esredes was in the Firmament, when a white-horned Au Ra woman with a foreign accent approached him and started talking to him. That certainly wasn't a combination Esredes saw much of, but she was very nice and sweet, gentle and soft. And she said something about how it felt like something was on Esredes' mind, and she would be happy to listen if he needed to talk. A part of Esredes couldn't help but feel like it might be some kind of trap? But he did go to see her in an inn room in the Forgottten Knight, and everything was normal.
It wasn't until the middle of the conversation Esredes learned she also considered herself a therapist. Oh dear, had he just gone into therapy again, on accident? But he didn't care. Her advice was actually very good, and for the first time in a while, Esredes felt truly heard. He talked about the ongoing situation with his former squire coming back into his life recently but hating him, and she told him to bring him to a place of shared memories, to which in doing so the two were able to, albeit messily, sort out the problem and realize they were family. Outside of those discussions, Esredes slowly learned about Fuyu, as was her name, and they became friends. They went to the large and comprehensive aquarium in the Shroud and looked at fish for hours, he found her crying once and comforted and calmed her down, he encouraged her gently to stop picking at her scales as a bad habit, and albeit she was a wanderer, she said she'd stay in Ishgard for him. Fuyu really felt like a gentle and understanding friend, far beyond that he could usually imagine.
And then one day, she was kidnapped. It was out of nowhere, she went missing. Him and the rest of the people who hung around her quickly assembled to find her and bring her home, and it was a major relief they were able to. Esredes watched from a distance as she shut herself in her room after that, too afraid to go outside, and his heart sunk. A friend of his was hurting badly, and he knew it was his fault. The universe always punished him for getting too comfortable, or trying to have things go too well. She had been kidnapped because he sought out her help, he knew this in his bones. And he felt horrible for it.
It was then and there Esredes put a stop to his therapeutic pursuits. If he went back to her, she'd die next time. And he couldn't bear to kill her, or any other therapist, with his selfish desires. He had his place, he had his box, and he would not dare try to crawl out of it again.
He only wished he realized this earlier, before the damage has been done for his selfishness. Never again would he be that horribly selfish, he pledged to himself. Never again.

since you started to work on the mirror essence’s skins, is it alright if I asked about some of the lore?
To be honest, the lore is kinda big and all over the place, and it's not finished yet, but I'll do my best to explain part of it, and what better way to start with the lore than with Laurence? I mean, he's the first skin I've posted, and he's also one of the characters I think about the most and have the most lore about of all. No worries, it won't be that confusing because Lau was present even before the mirror world existed.
Anyway here we go!! The following is the backstory of both Phineas, Laurence and Flynn but only at the beginning and not all of it and is a bit long and maybe OOC but bear with me!!
(TW:- death, grief and depression)
Laurence and Phineas were best buds in a small town back in the 1920s or 1960s. They had this one stupid habit since they were kids: sneaking out at night even though their families warned them it was dangerous, especially going to the nearby forest, which was like a death trap! They were fearless and somehow nothing bad ever happened to them, but that didn't apply to everyone else.
One day, Flynn caught his brother sneaking out and decided to secretly follow him to the forest. But damn, that place was so big and dark that he lost Phineas, who had already met up with Laurence. They were fooling around like always. Meanwhile, poor Flynn was lost deep in the scary forest, all alone and terrified, screaming for his brother for help, but no one heard him. Well, almost no one. It seems his cries caught the attention of some wild wolves, and that definitely wasn't a good thing.
Phineas and Laurence were hanging out under their favorite big willow tree in the middle of the forest. They were so far away from the town by this point. Suddenly, they finally heard Flynn's screams, and they were filled with terror. Fear covered both of their faces as they jumped up and raced to save Flynn, wherever he was and whatever danger he was in. But then, the screaming stopped, making Phineas even more terrified.
They finally found Flynn, being attacked by wild wolves! They grabbed anything they could find to scare the wolves away. After a long and painful fight, they managed to chase them off. But it was too late. Flynn was on the verge of death, blood everywhere from his ripped-off arm. Phineas picked him up, trying to run back to the town for help, but they were so far away that Flynn died in Phineas' arms, nowhere near any the town nor any help.
Laurence could only stand there, in shock, as Phineas cried and begged God not to take away his brother. It only got worse from there. Phineas fell into deep stage of grief and depression. He isolated himself, hating the world outside and blaming himself for Flynn's death. Years went by, and he never got better. All Laurence could do was be there, comforting him, but it broke his heart to see his once lively and cheerful friend turn into a shell of his former self.
Then one day, Phineas went missing, like he vanished into thin air. Rumors started flying around, each one worse than the next. Laurence couldn't stand hearing those awful rumours anymore, so he decided to find Phineas or at least some clue about what may had happened to him. The first place he thought of was the forest where Flynn died. He searched for hours, reaching the deepest parts and the willow tree where they used to hang out. Everything seemed normal and he was about to give up… until he stumbled upon a mirror embedded in the ground. Oddly enough, he saw no reflection in the mirror, even his own.
While staring at the reflection-less mirror, Laurence thought he saw Phineas for a split second and turned around, thinking his friend was behind him. But he wasn't. Only an unclear image of Phineas was in the mirror, confusing Laurence even more. He leaned in to get a closer look but ended up falling into the mirror like a rabbit hole!
...That was the day Laurence disappeared, never to be seen again. It was also the day that marked the first victim of The Mirror's World.
I would had talked more about the lore but I feel this is enough for now :)!!

gonna put this under a readmore so people don't have to scroll for years cause i have too many 😂 but thank you for asking @siyratiin!
Originally it was just a regular mechanical keyboard, but in a battle of the bots, a bot’s shard was injured. The energon from this shard came into contact with the keyboard, and a new bot was created in an instant. Terrified by the battle of giants raging all around it, it ran off immediately to hide. It was found two days later by the human it’s lived with since, who named it Button.
Tumblr media
Chromeblaze is a very reserved bot. She escaped Cybertron just to land on Earth among the beginning of WWII, so she didn't have a very favourable view of humans and hid among an Energon-rich mountain range with her twins until they were found by other Autobots who convinced her to give Earth a second chance. She's a 1936 MG TA Midget (pic is a black car but she's dark turquoise).
Tumblr media
The twins' names, by the way, are Neutrobolt (red) and Nitroblitz (blue). Chromeblaze was their batch initiator! Their spark split in half during the sparking process, creating twins from the only protoforms who weren't destroyed in a Decepticon raid. They chose their alt forms after already being on Earth for a while, and settled on the 1959 MG MGA 1500. Their alt forms are from the product line that replaced Chromeblaze's alt form, which they see as a familial line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Demoiselle was sparked into the Decepticon faction, but didn't really care for it. Eventually zi ran away, scanned a different alt form to hide better, broke down, and got restored by a ranger who thought she was just fixing up a normal old vehicle. Since zi loves birds, zi's actually quite delighted to be living on a bird sanctuary in the middle of nowhere. Zir alt form is a side-by-side, or UTV, speifically the 1990 Land Pride Runabout UTV. (Unlike the picture, zi's grey with a purple stripe up the side. Turns out vehicle manufacturers did not account for me when planning their stock paint options.)
Tumblr media
Technically Goldshot has two alt forms! Because she had one before she went to Jurassic Park. To get on the island, she became one of the gas Jeeps, #13 to be exact. When the park went offline during the hurricane, she went to the nursery in the visitors' center to check if the babies were all right. The rest of the raptor eggs hatched while she was there and imprinted on her. She was delighted! And Optimus was very tired when he came to pick her up and she wouldn't leave any of her raptors (or that month-old dilo) behind. She looks exactly like the canon vehicles, just with a different number.
Tumblr media
Nightflash was sparked just after the war on Cybertron began and is kinda fucked up from being a child soldier feyr entire life (not that fey'd ever admit it). Fey has a lighted spoiler and rims and running boards, a roll cage around feyr front seats, heavily tinted windows, and whitewall tires. The lights can switch between white, black, green, and RGB. Feyr car mode, a 1984 Fiero 2M4, was entirely influenced by this post. I can't find a pic of a green one like fey is so have this one:
Tumblr media
Stormbrake crash-landed on Earth hard enough to result in a forced shutdown of his systems. He came back online 35 years later in the hands of the Decepticons, who convinced him that they were all on the same side, peacekeepers, and the Autobots were actually trying to kill everyone. Eventually Stormbrake started questioning things so they sent him to kill the 'rebel leader', aka Optimus, assuming he'd die in the attempt. Instead the Autobots managed to un-brainwash him and now he's dating the bot he was sent to kill. His alt form used to be a grey 1985 Ford Escort and is now an orange and robin's egg blue Caterpillar D6T XL Crawler Dozer. He scanned a brightly-painted art installation rather than a normal dozer bc it made him feel pretty <3
Tumblr media
And finally, I have Voltcast! Who technically does not have an alt form because he's a dinobot, but I love him anyway. He's based on a Utahraptor. He has two-foot-long feathers at the end of his tail and along his arms from wrist to shoulder. Each is independently attached, and can be electrified and used as projectile weapons. He was alone for two hundred years after being the sole survivor of an Autobot-Decepticon fight, and with so much alone time to think, decided all that faction shit is stupid. He’s avoided interacting with any bots he’s seen since, and has been having a great time on his own in the woods, occasionally scaring the shit out of random hikers.
I've gotta get weirder about my Transformers OCs, ask me something about em and I'll come ask about yours!

Demon Spawns
Damian Wayne x Powered!Fem!Reader
When your’s and Damians future kids come to the present
A/N: Inspired by @cipheress-to-k-pop version of this. Please give me some feedback, it’s always appreciated :3
Word Count: 2500+
Warnings: mentions of a miscarriage, was lightly proofread and revised
Future
-Honestly, it’s not Mar’i’s fault
-You needed someone to watch the twins as you and damian had to go away on a business trip for a few dayside hours hours and I
-Mar’i eagerly accepted
-Yes, she knew she wasn’t supposed to bring the twins to the cave but she didn’t think this would happen
-The worst she expected was that they broke on of Tim’s gadgets
-She didn’t expect them to accidentally send themselves to the future
-You were going to kill her
-Mar’i did the only thing she could think of at the moment, call her best friend, White Rabbit, aka Lian Harper, to help her get them back
Present
- You and Damian had been dating for a year already
-You really loved him
-After 3 years of knowing him and 2 months of dating, it was only a matter of time until you both found out about each other
-Damian being Robin didn’t entirely surprise you, it just made a lot of sense
-The constant disappearing, the odd phone calls, the weird excuses
-At least he wasn’t cheating (Damian would NEVER cheat)
-Growing up adopted you never knew your birth parents, just that they had to have been metas because you have powers
-You had powers like Kori and more, you even kind of looked like her
-People joked that you could have been her daughter before she came to Earth
-Those jokes make her uncomfortable
-You thought everything about her was interesting: she’s heir to the thrown on Tamaran, her sister sold her, she’s been married 4 other times, and even the fact that she 9 stomachs
-Today was a normal day at the Manor
-Everyone was just chilling in the BatCave
-Bruce and Tim were working on a case on the BatComputer
-To you, everything in the BatCave started with a ‘Bat’
-BatKeys
-BatSeat
-Your secret name for Alfred was Batler (Bat + Butler )
-Dick and Kori we flirting talking by the weapons
-And you were watching Damian train with Jason
-Watching Damian train was one of your favorite pastimes whenever you were in the cave
-Suddenly a bright light purple light flashed in the middle of the cave, right between Damian and Jason as they were jumping to attack each other,
-The light startled them, causing then the jump back
-All the heroes prepared themselves in a fighting stance
-Next thing everyone knew, two small babies, a girl and boy, were in the middle of the cave
-They looked like they could be twins, but you couldn’t say for certain from where you were standing
- Everyone was surprised, two random babies just appeared out of nowhere
-“Aye, Big Bat. Bet you don’t have a protocol for this, do ya?” Jason says trying to break the silence
-The two babies looked around confused
-They couldn’t be older than a 9 months
-Last they checked they were with Mar’i in the BatCave, now they were in the BatCave with strangers they didn’t recognize
-BOOM, waterworks
-“I’ll go and get Alfred” Tim said dashing up the stairs
-Everyone knew he was probably the least qualified to deal with children, mainly because he’s always sleep deprived
-Naturally the two most recent parents went and scooped one up
-“How did they get here?” Dick asked rocking the girl in his arms
-They both calmed down a bit looking at the person holding them and back at each other and back at the adult
-They stopped crying, but were still fussing
-“While they’re like this let’s get saliva for a DNA test to find out who their parents are”
-Bruce took two swabs and collected saliva from each of the babies
-After, Dick and Kori passed the babies around to see if anyone could calm them down
-It wasn’t until Bruce handed you the little boy that he stopped crying, cooing in your arms and little hands reaching for your face
-Jason stopped, looked at Damian, and questioned if it would be the best idea to hand a baby to him
-“Is handing Damian a crying baby the best idea?”
-“Probably not, but it’s the only idea we have” Dick responded
-Handing the baby girl to Damian, she looked at him and stopped fussing, smiling at the face in front of her
-“Never thought I’d see the day” Jason chuckled
-“What do you think their names are?” Kori asked gaining everyone’s attention
-“How about we get in a circle, go in a circle calling out random names and see who they go to” you spoke
-Everyone nodded and hummed in agreement
-You and Damian placed the babies on the floor jointing everyone else in the circle
-Before you could call the first name, a voice interrupted you
-“After this game, I believe you will be needed these”
-The voice belonging to none other than Alfred said
-Tim decided to join the circle at that point
-“Thank you” you called out
-Alfred gave you a small smile and nod before heading up the stairs
-You all started with your little game ‘Name the Babe’
-“Makayla”
-“Isaiah”
-“Nick”
-“Elizabeth”
-After 5 minutes of calling names and receiving no reaction from the babies, a ding
-It was from the BatComputer, signaling the results from the DNA test
-Dick and Kori
-Bruce opened the test and everyone had a face mixed with shock and confusion
-Under ‘FATHER’ was a picture of Damian
-”The Demon spawn had a spawn.”
-Under ‘MOTHER’ was a question mark and underneath it was ‘match not found’
-You turned to Damian with a look a shock, confusion, and… betrayal and one that said ‘please don’t tell me you cheated on me’
-Damian took a step towards you, and you took a step back
-You rushed up the stairs heading into the manor
-Damian rushed after you
-“This makes no sense. Damian has only ever been with anyone other than YN and Raven”
-“And he’s not the type for random hookups”
-Bruce checked the database and noticed he didn’t have yours or Ravens DNA in the system
-“Kori contact Raven and have her come to the BatCave”
-“Bart!” Tim shouted
-“What? Haven’t you been paying attention, Damian is the father not Bart” Jason retorted
-“I know that! But Bart’s from the future. Who says the babies can’t be too?”
-Back in the manor, Damian was looking all over for you
-Your car was still parked in front, so you were somewhere in the manor
-Fifteen minutes later Damian found you on his bed, facing the window, looking at the garden
-You’ve always loved how Damian’s room faced the garden
-He slowly walks towards you until he’s also on the bed
-“Beloved-”
-“I was pregnant”
-“What? When?”
-“Four months ago. I lost the baby early on, I didn’t even know until I went to the ER. I thought it was food poisoning from that Thai place I went to with Steph and Cass, but they told me I had a miscarriage. I was 3 weeks”
-“Why didn’t you tell me?”
-“I didn’t know how and I was somewhat relieved. I always told myself I’d wait until I was married to have kids. Also we can’t raise a kid now Dami. We’re only 21 and you work in a dangerous field.”
-You put your foreheads together, caressing his cheek with your hand
-Damian just wrapped his arms around you, pulling you down, forcing you to lay with him and you accepted his embrace
-“Todd messaged me”
-“What did he say”
-“Tim come to the conclusion that the babies most likely came from the future and father doesn’t have yours or Raven’s DNA is the system, Raven is on her way so they can run the test again”
-“And if they’re not mine”
-“Let’s not worry about that right now”
-After an hour of silence and Damian just holding you, you both make your way back to the BatCave hand in hand
-Raven, and even some League members, are now there too
-“Can I see the little ones” Diana asked with a smile on her face
-She has always had a soft spot for children
-“Careful. She just ate” Kori informed her, handing Baby Girl over
-While you and Damian were gone, Tim made the executive decision to call them Baby Girl and Baby Boy until the mother was determined
-“Awww, so precious”
-The Themyscrian rocking the small baby in her arms
-Baby Girl soon became fussy, most likely from Diana’s cuffs
-Diana handed the baby off to Raven
-It made sense
-We were here to see if you or Raven would be their mother (yk that motherly connection)
-Once Baby Girl was in Ravens arms she quickly calmed down, almost as quickly as she did with Damian
-You didn’t show it, but you felt a pang in your heart
-Damian just squeezed your hand lightly but you couldn’t take your eyes off Raven and Baby Girl
-Bruce spoke up, breaking you out of your trance
-“I need both of you to get a good saliva swab”
-You and Raven both did as told
-“Here. My arms are getting numb” Dick says handing Baby Boy to you
-You smile at the tiny human in your arms
-After 10 of waiting, a BatComputer dinged
-Bruce went to open the results
-Damian standing right behind him, and you and Raven on each side of him
-On the screen where a picture of the babies
-When did they take that picture?
-The babies were at the bottom middle and above them was the same picture of Damian as earlier and under ‘MOTHER’ was a picture of…
-You
-WAIT! How did they get that picture?
-You were too happy to question that
-“Happy to say that Baby Girl and Baby Boy are Y/N’s and Damian’s ”
-“Thank Azarath”
-You laughed at Raven, she pulls you into a hug
-“These babies are so adorable but I don’t think I’m cut out to be a mother. I’ll gladly babysit though”
-“Wait. You guys have been calling them Baby Girl and Baby Boy?”
-No one other than Wally West would ask that question
-“Come one. You can think of something better to call them”
-Before you could say something, Damian stepped in
-“Actually we already know their names”
-You smiled
-You handed Baby Boy to Damian
-“This is Soren Jackson Wayne”
-“Jackson after Drake”
-You walked over to Raven, who was holding a sleeping Baby Girl, and picked her up
-“And my gorgeous daughter. You are Jaylena Mariah Wayne. Jaylena inspired after Jason but means blue crested bird aka Nightwing. For that time you both saved me”
-You and Damian make eye contact not breaking it even when the others spoke
-Dick and Jason both smiled
-Jason punched Roy’s side
-”See that. Demon spawn named his spawn after me”
-“Don’t worry father we plan on naming the next ones after your mother and father”
-You looked away quickly,
-Bruce had a shocked look on his face
-“There’s going to be more?!”
-Jason could already see it: A demon army
-Suddenly another bright light flashed in the middle of the BatCave
-Everyone but you and Damian had a fight stance ready
-Bruce and Dick stood in front of you and Damian
-Two people now stood in the middle of the BatCave, they looked like vigilantes
-One was dressed in all white, with a matching white masked with bunny ears falling along her wavy ginger hair
-The other, well anyone could tell who she was
-Mar’i Grayson
-“Hi mom. Hi daddy”
-The girl in all white removed her mask as she walked towards Roy giving him a big hug
-“Hi dad”
-It was obvious to say that Dick, Kori, and Roy were baffled
-It wasn’t even a few hours ago they saw their daughters in the care of Barry and Iris, playing along with the other superhero kids
-Now they were teenagers, vigilantes at that too
-Mar’I was walking towards you with a pleading look
-“Sis”
-Sis?
-Mar’I never called you sis
-She always called you this funny tamaranean name she heard from Kori, it’s supposed to be a pretty flower but dangerous or something
-“I am so so so so so sorryyyyy. I know you told me not to bring them to the BatCave by myself but it was only for a minute to get something. I didn’t think they would get sent to the past. I put Sor and Lena down for a second then boom they’re gone. Please don’t kill me”
-She turns to Kori and Dick
-“Please don’t ground me”
-You step towards her
-“I can tell you didn’t want this to happen and I know my future self will probably get on you for this. So just please, please get my babies home safely”
-Mar’i nodded eagerly as you handed her Jaylena
-“I promise. I really don't want to be on the LoA’s bad side” she chuckles
-Damian looked slightly confused at the remark
-He gave Soren to Lian, staring her down with a look that says ‘drop or hurt my son, I’ll hurt you’
-“Daaaaddd”
-“Stop scaring my daughter Damian”
-“Tt”
-“Anyways… Congrats on your…nevermind” Mar’i stops when she noticed your promise ring that Damian gave you
-Soren looks at Mar’i, reaching for her but found it no use when Lian wouldn’t let him
-He looked upset
-As he started fussing a blue power orb slowly started to form about a foot above him
-Thinking of only your kids safety, you quickly absorbed the energy
-“Our kids have powers?” Damian asked in shock
-Naturally you were in shock too
-You barely knew the full extent of your powers compared to other metas your age, and now at least one of your kids will have them too
-“At the moment only Soren does. He uhm… does that sometimes. So far it only happens when he’s mad or extremely fussy.”
-Lian’s watch starts beeping
-Before she can even open her mouth Mar’i talks
-“We really have to go now”
-Damian walks up next to you, placing a hand on your waist
-“Bye Uncle D. Bye bye sis”
-Again with the sis?
-You and Damian give a small wave goodbye
-Just like that, with a flash, they’re gone
-Everyone goes their respective ways
-Tears start to well in your eyes when it’s just you and Damian in the BatCave
-“Let’s go to bed, Beloved. It’s been a long day”
-You follow him to his room and you both go to sleep
-That night you dream about your future with Damian, Jaylena, and Soren
Back to the Future(hehehe see what i did there)
-“Great! They’re still sleeping. We can get them to bed before Y/N and Damian get home”
-Mar’i was ready for this day to be over
-She knew she would get hell from you and Damian for what happened
-“Oh. We’re home. What happened?”
-Hearing your voice, Lian took that as her que to hand Soren over to Damian and hop out
-Mar’i turns around to see you and Damian dropped head to toe in LoA attire
-“Uncle D. Sis. Back already?”
-Damian walks over to Mar’i also taking Jaylena in his arms
-He walks over to you, with both twins in his arms, placing a kiss on your temple
-“I’ll put them to bed while you deal with Mar’i”
-With that DamiĂĄn walks up the stairs into the manor
-“Before you blow a fuse, I know I shouldn’t have brought the twins to the Cave but I had no choice. I couldn’t leave them upstairs by themselves. As soon as they flashed to the past I immediately got help to go get them. And I almost ruined your proposal surprise but i didn’t so that’s something. I promise this will never ever EVER happen again”
-“Go home”
-“What?”
-“Go home. It’s late and we’re all tired. We’ll talk tomorrow”
-“Oh ok”
-You retire to yours and Damian’s shared bedroom as Mar’i leaves
-“What did you tell her”
-“To go home and we’ll talk tomorrow. You know she almost ruined your proposal”
-“Not surprised”
-You slip into bed, cuddling up next to Damian, head on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around your waist
-You bring your left hand up admiring your engagement and wedding rings
-“It was a great proposal”
-“Damn right it was”
-You chuckled
-You look up at a sleeping Damian, admiring the man he grew to be
-Physically he’s always been attractive, but he grew mentally and emotionally
-He wasn’t the same boy who entered the manor when he was 10, emotionally and mentally detached from everyone, doors and windows shut to everyone, stubborn as a mule
- Actually, Damian will always be stubborn
- You both grew to care deeply for each other
… after writing for about 15-20 minutes I decided I wanted to make a part 2 but of the proposal…😚
I kinda want to make another version, the kid is like a teen. Should I???
Should I write why Mar’i called the reader ‘sis’?? Wouldnt y’all like to know? Do you have any ideas?
